Thanks for the advice. She doesn't have access to a car, and our budgets are tiny, so we're mostly restricted to events at our university. I wouldn't mind driving her to some place else, but I'm not sure if she'll be comfortable with that yet. I do have something in mind to invite her to tomorrow, so I'll try to come up with an option for a second "date" if she accepts. She's already laughing/giggling a lot when we talk, so it seems like a really positive sign.

I think we are a little bit? It's a little hard to tell because I'm so awkward/inexperienced and she doesn't speak English as her first language. I think my biggest problem is that I'm being too "nice" and should be a little more playful/teasing. I guess I'll have to try that tomorrow.

Spent some more time with my classmate who I think likes me. We "studied" together, but mostly just chatted the who time. Out of the blue, she asked if I had eaten lunch, and when she heard that I had not, she offered me half of her lunch (she brought a big portion). She even hinted that she was going to bring food from her country for me in the future. She wanted to meet tomorrow to study also, so we're going to do that. My only problem is she seems really friendly with everyone, so I'm still a…

That makes sense. Thanks for the advice.

Thank you! That's what I'm thinking. I haven't gotten a lot of chances to speak directly with her because of the classroom dynamics (she's an international student and they usually hang around each other before and after class), but I'm planning on trying something at the next opportunity. Do you think asking if she wants to study together for an exam we have soon (and then asking her out if I think there's still mutual interest) is reasonable or should I be more direct?

Met a girl who might be interested in me. A lot of very strong eye contact and laughing when I talked to her. She seemed very engaged in the conversation and kept asking me questions about myself and what I'm studying. Felt like she was being a little extra friendly and flattering towards me, but obviously it's sometimes hard to tell. Later I gave her a smile as I was entering our classroom, which she didn't react to, but she looked over at me and smiled at me several times in the next few minut…

But I'm only doing well in school because I dedicate so much of my time to it, which leads to less time for everything.

Yes, it's almost all men in my field and at the places I've worked at (and the few women are almost all 20-30+ years older than me). Unfortunately, my hobbies are also mostly men, as are my friends, so I spend very little time with women. I am trying to find ways to grow my social circle, but it isn't easy with how busy my school and work keep me.

This is definitely something that hits home for me. I spent a lot of my youth trying to do well at school, and it left me unprepared for other parts of life. I've done well academically and should be ready for the job market, but getting myself to the point where I am ready to start dating has been tough. I've had to spend a lot of time getting in shape, expanding my wardrobe, and becoming less awkward. All things that more "normal" people have already done by my age.

What types of people do you think fall into the two types of pretty? Is it just a matter of sexualization or are there other factors that go into it?

I don't want sex. I want a happy and stable relationship. That isn't happening with someone who cheats on you.

You just have to remember that a lot of women seem to come here because they hate men and want to watch us suffer. You can't judge all of them just because the ones here are awful. I'm sure it happens in real life also, but there's plenty of good people out there.

"NPCs" Do you have links to people using that term to refer to unattractive people? It seems awful to view others as non-human only because they aren't attractive, even if they aren't being viewed "negatively".

You forgot to change the end of your sentence to "it's men's fault" I agree partially, but that comparison doesn't entirely work. Sexual assaulters aren't viewed as heroic fighters for equality. They are correctly viewed as scum.

I think he's referring to a six pack of beer, not muscles. Like a blue-collar type of person.

It goes against my nature to put people in situations where they feel uncomfortable. Maybe this is just something I need to force myself to do, but making people potentially feel creeped out just I can possibly get a girl's number/chat with her feels wrong. I probably need to get some more self-esteem if I feel my presence is enough to make people feel uncomfortable though.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
