Sticky Sidebar for Visitors on New Reddit LayoutThis sub is actually anti-women despite the sticky. I really wish this sub was more about men protecting themselves in divorce, advice about how a man should proceed through a divorce, and the emotional toll divorce takes on men. But instead it has become decidedly anti-woman. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/11/21 06:36 AM
Why is my wife locking our bedroom door? She’s probably emotionally divested from the relationship, made up her mind regarding divorce; and wants a physical separation which represents her emotional separation. For sure protect yourself by documenting what you can, with photo/video evidence where available, but it’s not a sign of anything larger. It’s a guarantee that she keeps you physically separate. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/11/21 06:34 AM
Is marriage worth it?There was virtually no divorce around me as a kid. Like I knew it existed, and that it happened - but not to my family, or my friends’ families - it certainly wouldn’t happen to me. That’s what I mean by “breakup proof.” As far as putting the burden on her - I mean that I relied on her to take care of our finances and pay the bills on time, organize insurance, handle all the details really in life. If I didn’t have to bother with those details I could be more creative, more productive, etc… but … | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/09/21 04:31 AM
Is marriage worth it?I’ll add my perspective because it’s different and you asked for opinion. All the other posters are absolutely in the right to have their opinions, their opinions are valid. For context, my divorce will be finalized next month but we already have a marriage separation agreement in place. My (soon to be) ex-wife makes a considerable amount more money than I do and all retirement accounts, stock portfolios, even our house were in her name. She’s keeping the house, giving me a significant portion o… | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/09/21 01:13 AM
Is marriage worth it?No, she could get a temporary protective order and have him removed. That would only be temporary. In the divorce a premarital asset stays a premarital asset unless in the prenup is explicitly states ownership is shared. Without such conditions the house would be returned to him. | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/09/21 12:42 AM
PSA: Pussy is expensiveThe thing is, divorce isn’t one size fits all. What works for some doesn’t work for others. This advice might be exactly what some need to hear, while for others it doesn’t really fit. Posters and readers alike would do well to remember that. | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/08/21 07:33 PM
Child placement mediationI’m also in Wisconsin going through mediation - no kids though. One thing I’ve kept in mind is that mediators aren’t there to be fair, they’re there to be fast. By that I mean they want to expedite both parties to agreements. Be your own advocate, because the mediator won’t be. | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/08/21 08:52 PM
