2	Why is marriage still pushed Tbh in my situation (Aus) and probably elsewhere it's less that it's pushed, it's more that it is absolutely critical to make headway in life. Banks won't loan on a mortgage with a single income, there are all sorts of family tax benefits and defacto benefits.
