I personally don't like it. Every guy who has done this to me was someone I didn't want to kiss- and I am someone who doesn't really like to reject people, so it puts me in an awkward position of uncomfortably kissing/being kissed by someone I don't want to be kissing. I have had a lot of guys verbally ask me if it was okay to kiss me before attempting, I admit I like this a lot better. I have had more than one guy ACTUALLY say to me (and it blows my mind) something along the lines of "Hey, I like you, but I know you'd never date me, so I'm just going to try to stop thinking of you in that way and just be your friend." I never understand it, and it definitely ruins any chance they might have had.
