I'm a deployed 0-2 in the USAF...benefits, BAH, hostile fire pay, flight pay, combined I'm making about 7-8k a month tax free in my late twenties while I'm here...plus invaluable experience for the civilian world...

I am immeasurably proud of my dad. World renowned infectious disease specialist, spends 2-4 months out of the year teaching at hospitals in Africa. Tons of hobbies flying, fishing, hunting (not an expert really in any of them though, haha). Raised an awesome 5 kids. Him and my mom have an amazing relationship and I come from an extremely tight knit family. Would give anything, ANYTHING to any of his five children (and does on a regular basis). I truly believe I have the best parents in the world…

This reads like a troll article. It's just meant to fire everyone up.

I'm an airline pilot / USAF pilot. Starting pay for the airlines is bad, but for the military is pretty good. 3 years in I will be making around 70,000, with free healthcare and a lot of it tax free. Airlines are a different story. Initial pay is awful, but the ceiling at major airlines can be 300K+ if you can get your foot in the door, which is only going to become easier as more and more baby boomers retire. As far as SMV goes for the career that's anyone's guess.

As a parent, you shouldn't be fomenting such combative discourse between your children. US vs. THEM, BETTER and WORSE, are entirely flawed arguments. It's a yin and yang relationship between men and women. We compliment each other. We're different, but in healthy relationships, we make one another better. But, if they are going to frame their lives like that, the little boy made numerous, clear cut, undeniable reasons why "men are better". The dad handled the moms emotional, fact-less retort cle…

Haha, Nia is at least tolerable and can laugh at herself...She's kind of a decent foil for Bill. I like their back and forths sometimes.

Eh, I dunno. I have a really good friend, a total bro, who can drink and party with the best of them. Dude is 6 foot 4 and a pilot in the Navy, but through religious convictions is just waiting for that perfect girl. Chicks THROW themselves at him. Hope he finds a suitable match eventually.

Instrument instructing was my favorite type. Just think of this. When you are flying IFR, there are only three things you can possibly be doing. Following highways in the sky with your plane. (ILS courses, airways,) Getting told exactly what to do by approach. (Radar vectors) And visual. (You vs. the airport, make it happen!) You can reduce the meat of instrument flying to these three concepts. Good luck!

I'm sure if Channing Tatum walked by them like "Damn, girl you're looking great today", they would be as outraged.

I'm pretty sure they're talking about Soccer, not American Football. Soccer players aren't usually built like refrigerators.

Again, I am more offended about how unfunny this is. Fuck the dude's segments can be so full of trenchant social commentary. Remember when Colbert used to do some of them? Relevant: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7izJggqCoA

To make matters worse, their parents defeated the Nazi's and Japanese, created the most successful innovative country in the history of the world, and handed them America on a silver platter...which they went off to squander by destroying our manufacturing base, selling out to Wall Street, while doing nothing to address decades of growing environmental and social problems. Their pioneering of civil rights is their one bright spot I guess...

Why do they even mention "diversity" in the decision. She seems like a completely capable officer for the position, judging by her past experience. you mention the D word in her appointment and it de-ligitimizes her in the eyes of a lot of people. I'm a pilot in the Air Force and I want the absolute most qualified people commanding me and I could care two shits if they are men or women...

I think the anarchists are hosting the conference, and they are getting shouted down by some feminists that showed up because their leader said something that rankled them a little bit.

Yeah when I heard it I was a little peeved that Bill didn't get on Nia a little bit more. Physical attraction is a HUGE part of relationships, and this chick is 24 and put on 60 pounds in a few years? Totally indefensible.

FWIW, I'm an airline pilot and also fly in the US Air Force. 28y/o, will make about 50G this year, but should be into the 6 figures in my early 30s if I'm lucky enough to get hired by a legacy airline in the next couple of years. Pay will be bad initially for the first 2 years or so, until you can upgrade at a regional or get hired by a legacy carrier. Best perk is time off once you are senior enough to hold a decent schedule (talking 15-18 days OFF a month), and travel. TRAVEL. TRAVEL. I can ri…

Try "not giving a shit". Who are you trying to impress? Who are these girls who you put on a pedestal? The modern American woman is likely dumb, entitled, lazy, and materialistic. You'll start to think that THEY'RE the ones who need to impress YOU. You go to the gym to make yourself the best person you can be for yourself, no one else.. Maybe some girl will eventually wow you enough to take her along for your life ride, if not, oh well. You'll be dead eventually so it doesn't really matter anywa…
