I am open minded with regards to the decisions consenting individuals make for themselves.

Right. I bet circumcised men have just as much sex and masturbate just as much as intact men. But just because a circumcised man can still enjoy sex , it does not mean that circumcision performed on an unconsenting person is ok.

You said you are not a parent yet which to me suggests that you plan on or would at least like to have children. A great way to fight back against circumcision is to keep your sons intact. It helps the cause and respects his rights at the same time. Let him decide when he can consent.

Circumcision should require the consent of the person being circumcised unless it is for immediate health concerns. Every person should have the right to make decide whether or not to modify his/her body.

At least there are more upvotes than downvotes so the word is being spread and more than half who choose to vote agree. I think it's unlikely that those who upvote this thread will circumcise any future sons they may have. To those that disagree with intactivists, I at least want you to think about the fact that many man on this subreddit either were circumcised and are against the practice, You have no way to predict how your son will react later if he is circumcised so you should leave the cho…

That's great. Intact children will probably keep their children intact, ending this horrible cycle.

That's because there really aren't any legitimate health benefits that make non consensual surgery worth it. If there were, Europeans would be having many problems, but they're not. His body, his choice.

As a jew this looks like good news to me.

Jew here. I'm glad too. We don't sacrifice animals anymore. Let's stop circumcising our sons as well. Most Jews don't follow all the religious laws anyway. Especially if you are a reform jew, you should seriously consider a bris shalom (no circumcision) over a bris milah. Let your son make the choice when he's old enough to consent. That would be a more meaningful covenant anyway.

I had really hoped this article would have a comments section. It would be interesting to see how a mostly non-circumcising culture responds. They could have commented on some of the myths like cleanliness and reduced infections. Most British are not circumcised and are no less healthy than Americans. His body, his decision.

The "like father like son" argument doesn't make sense unless the circumcision is for religious reasons, because circumcision for the majority of the population is a more recent phenomenon. Obviously some male ancestor of yours did not mind that his son was circumcised while he was not.

I still don't understand the "health and hygiene reasons". I would venture to guess that the average intact male is just as healthy as the average cut male from the same socioeconomic status. It is good that you talked to many pediatricians but I am afraid they are ignorant of the male anatomy. And like I said, a cut male can never get his foreskin back while an intact male can always get a circumcision. But I am glad that you at least considered the alternative and did not just make a blind cho…

Many men have problems with painful erections because their circumcisions were too tight. You got lucky with yours. The main issue is that the baby boy does not consent to a surgery that is obviously not necessary. I agree that there may be men who are happy they are cut. Unfortunately there are also men who are unhappy the procedure was done. The problem is that an intact man can always get a circumcision while a cut man can never get everything back. That's why I think only the person whose bo…

Check out foreskin-restoration.net. Check out the grief section. She should know how much other men dislike it and that they are trying to get it back. Another good resource is the joy of uncircumcising book. You could watch a video of a circumcision being done together. I think the most important reason not to do it is that it is your son's penis and he should be able to decide for himself if he wants it done. Any perceived health benefits are minimal if they exist at all. A majority if western…

I hope you don't mind me asking, but how old are your sons? When I was born everyone (almost) was cutting in the US. My parents do not keep kosher or the sabbath or many other religious requirements so I wonder if they would have done it without a doctor's recommendation. I talked to them about it and they agree it's barbaric and they never should have done it. I just hope more Jewish (and non-Jewish) parents realize they don't have to do it - the bris shalom ceremony sounds so much more peacefu…

We can't blame this entirely on mothers. It is often the father who wants the son to "look like him" that gets the final say. The mother accepts the father's position because he has a penis and so he should know what's best. He thinks that because he's able to have sex that it didn't take away any functionality. Good thing that r/mensrights exists and is able to inform fathers of reddit that circumcision is genital mutilation. His body, his decision. Sincerely, A jew unhappy that he was circumci…

Thanks for responding for me. You understand my feelings exactly. I'm missing out on more enjoyable sex. My glans is not as sensitive as they should be because of the exposure. I will have the scar of my parents' unfortunate decision for the rest of my life. Thinking about it is a real downer.

I am unhappy because I feel like I am missing out on sexual pleasure. I also feel violated.

I find it odd that so many jewish people support circumcision of non-jews. The rabbis decided to remove the full prepuce to make sure jews could not integrate with the greeks. If everyone is circumcised, it becomes much easier for a jewish man to marry a non-jew. I support genital integrity for all people. Edit: Damn android auto correct

For all those people who say they've never heard a circumcised man complain that it was done...well I'm circumcised (and Jewish) and I hate that it was done. Parents of reddit please give your newborns the choice that I and so many other men never had.

Many doctors support circumcision so anybody not a doctor may be seen as not being credible automatically.

Can we just get some common sense from the flight attendants? If a kid complains, change his seat. If there are no complaints, then there is no reason to change anyone's seat. simple

sue the mom. every year in jail is worth at least 50k plus pain and suffering. set the record straight: you cannot falsely accuse people of crimes and expect no retribution

I understand the boy was on a Southwest plane and they did not help him move but...the boy's father should be going after the woman who sat next to his son and made the sexual advances and offered drugs. It shouldn't be hard for Southwest to find out who she is.

sexual discrimination at its finest. this is absolutely ridiculous, he should have sued for much more since he donated it anyway so it wasn't for personal gain

when i first read this, i was worried the 4 men had been in jail for a long time. luckily they had not. this woman needs to go to jail for a long time to set a precedent that you cannot falsely accuse a man of rape just because you don't get your way. this even should also help in getting false rape cases thrown out (i hope)

can we send the woman who falsely accused him to jail? she really deserves it, stealing 3 years of life from this man

why would the mom that has a DNR order for her son even want custody over him? seems like she does not want the burden of a disabled son so the father should seek custody. it would be nice if this went into the father's custody battle and if he actually wanted custody too

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
