Very nice letter. I got distracted by page 5 though (NSFW).

Well, to be fair, a whole lot of psycho ex's of either sex would stfu for £2million.

Pals say well-heeled Wendy, 43, - the mother of his 13-year-old daughter - wanted £8million. She got £2million out of court...The out-of-court settlement is understood to include a gagging order - preventing either party from talking about it. Last night Nigel refused to comment on his payout. I read this as they settled out of court, so no appealing this.

/r/parenting is much more relevant. This simply isn't a MR issue. It's a douche bag parent issue.

Way to editorialize in your title. This has nothing to do with MR, and has everything to do with hating on someone's ex-wife.

If there is child support or alimony involved, the State does not care if the spouse doesn't want it.

I can't think of anything else it could or should conceivably be put towards. Transportation (car payment/insurance/deductibles), college savings, general savings, housing (rent/mortgage/utilities/insurance & deductibles), groceries, clothing, entertainment, educational expenses, medical expenses; all fungible expenses for childcare.

That's a good point and well taken. It's sort of like being around foreign students at university. They always seem to overachieve and kick ass in courses. This is because they had to compete fiercely to get into a top university in the states... It's a kind of selection bias.

Your dad sounds like he's working his fucking ass off to put his kids through college. Damn, he even made you dinner to boot? After working for thirteen hours? Jesus Tap Dancing Christ, I'd probably drink myself to sleep as well if I was supporting such a troupe of ungrateful apes. Your dad doesn't have to love you, he doesn't have to be your friend or your buddy. He doesn't have to do anything for you except feed you, clothe you, make sure you go to school (not college), and provide a place for…

I really enjoyed this comment. However, there are a lot of dads (and moms) that just bail out on their responsibilities to their children, and this does often negatively affect how their children are able to relate to other people and cope with their emotions. You are right to point out, though, that this is in no way a valid cop-out for the people posting here to shift blame for their problems on their absentee parents. Especially if they recognize that their relationship (or lack of) with thei…

tomek77 has an excellent point. You need to make sure you're protecting yourself from an unexpected pregnancy. Do not rely on her to carry out birth control once you lay down an ultimatum. Even if things appear to be going well. She may get desperate and attemt to get pregnant to keep you in a relationship. And given your past willingness to stick with her even though she contributes very little to the relationship, you'd probably stay with her and she knows it.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
