1	Men’s suicide rates Suicide is by definition “the act of taking one's own life". Therefore, the suicide rate is by definition counting people who have successfully committed suicide. The statistic is just data. How is it misleading? I think you are conflating suicidal thoughts/risk factors/attempted suicides with suicide when in fact the suicide rate is simply measuring actual deaths by suicide.
