That’s how I feel about all parental issues. IDGAF…if you’re that stupid to have a kid you deserve whatever burden you get.
/r/MensRights28/06/22 01:22 AM

That’s true. My bad. We should make these pills cheap and readily available.

I was being facetious

Well as long as you’re set then no need to worry about other people.

Yeah…those services won’t work in a state like Texas cause you’ll get sued
/r/MensRights27/06/22 11:20 PM

Or you could abort the fetus in the first trimester when it won’t know it was ever alive instead of forcing a child to grow up in foster care
/r/MensRights27/06/22 11:18 PM

Good option if you don’t die.
/r/MensRights27/06/22 07:49 PM

Lol of course it will. Not everyone can afford to leave the state - or multiple states depending where they are. Not every woman knows she’s pregnant in time to take the morning after pill. Even if she goes to another state, she may be in legal trouble in her home state…which disincentivizes her to seek a legal abortion across state lines.

If someone doesn’t want to have sex, they don’t have to.

Lol where’s your study?
/r/MensRights27/06/22 06:56 PM

Yea but with abortion legal, of both parents want an abortion, the guy can avoid the financial burden. If abortion is illegal and the woman can’t obtain one otherwise, then in every possible scenario - whether or not the man wants the abortion or the woman wants the abortion or both, he will have that burden. At least with abortion being legal there is a scenario where the guy gets what he wants. And yes many women will still be able to get an abortion for now…but Republicans would like to pass …

“In her study published in the Journal of Adolescent Health, Dr. Everett and her team found that young men who were involved with a pregnancy and whose partners had an abortion were nearly four times more likely to graduate from college than those whose partners gave birth. Her research also suggests that males under the age of 20 who were affected by an abortion were likely to earn more money than those who became parents but did not live with their child. Earnings between those who became pare…

Lol I’ll be here if you wish to make an argument against my last point. Until then…

No you’re implying it. By supporting a hero walk. A party! For the woman who kills herself. No celebration for the woman who saved her own life? Is self-defense not honorable?
/r/MensRights26/06/22 01:18 AM

I don’t think they are but many people at that time certainly did. Ever heard of a chicken hawk? Draft dodgers during Vietnam were shamed.
/r/MensRights26/06/22 01:15 AM

You’re implying that the fetus is more valuable than the adult woman. If she’s a hero for letting her fetus kill her then she’s a coward if she doesn’t? I wouldn’t shame anyone for protecting themselves. No shame in self-defense.

It’s odd to me that so many publications are going with this narrative when the public overwhelmingly believes Depp.

I got my hair cut after the verdict yesterday. The woman cutting it was telling me how she followed the case closely because she herself was a victim of DV. She very much supported Depp and said she saw things in Heard that reminded her of her male abuser. I imagine there are other women like her.
/r/MensRights02/06/22 01:21 PM

Depp won even more if you consider the fact that Heard’s acting career will be effectively over after this and Depp’s may well be revived.

You are in a bubble. Half the country is conservative and most female conservatives - like all conservatives - don’t like wokeness. Even more of the country is not politically or socially engaged in that way and couldn’t really describe anything about feminism let alone regurgitate stupid think pieces trending online. You really think working class people pay attention to half of this shit?

Every opinion piece I’ve seen so far from a major news outlet seems to take this type of position…one where Amber is not believed because she isn’t a “perfect victim” or that this shows misogyny and how we haven’t changed as much as we thought in the wake of #metoo…all the while ignoring the fact that men can be and are victims (plus it sounds like women in Amber’s life have been her victims as well). Amber and these reporters are doing the real disservice to victims.

Growing and eating are not evidence that something knows it’s alive. A tree grows and eats too. In fact trees heal themselves. What does it prove that a fetus heals? This had nothing to do with self awareness. Again, you are being obtuse. Sure a newborn isn’t as aware as an adult. Human development is a spectrum…a process…these things don’t occur all at once or don’t you know that? There is a legitimate argument to be had on where in the process to draw the line…when abortion shouldn’t be allowe…

Your mistake is in the belief that it is always wrong to take a human life. Just being a member of the human species doesn’t automatically confer a certain level of moral significance. Is a fetus a member of our species? Obviously. Does it have the same characteristics as an average adult? No. It does not know it is alive, it doesn’t have a desire to go on living. It does not have plans for the future nor a conception of the finality of death. Depending on the stage of development, it doesn’t fe…

The nervous system is developing in a fetus. It doesn’t instantaneously come into existence full form at the moment of conception. You put a zygote ahead of a cow. You are moronic.
/r/MensRights08/04/22 01:08 AM

These are the bankrupt “morals” we can expect from the religious. Thankfully society has grown up a lot since some illiterate barbarians in the desert communicated their version of morality 2,000 years ago.

A fetus only has the potential to be an adult human if the mother doesn’t die. You seem to think the instant a sleek hits an egg it’s an equivalent moral subject to an adult human. Are you really that obtuse?
/r/MensRights07/04/22 11:21 PM
0

Run a DNA test on it. It’s human alright. And it has potential to be an adult just like a 1 week old fetus.
/r/MensRights07/04/22 10:38 PM
2

Who said it wasn’t a human? Humans don’t have different rights simply because they are human. Species affiliation alone is arbitrary. It’s the qualities that an organism has that matters…such as self awareness, the desire to go on living, experience of pain etc. that’s why it is worse to kill a full grown cow than a human fetus…a cow has more self awareness. Species distinctions aren’t just nomenclature…they have different characteristics…as do individuals within a species and at different point…

Lol the whole abortion debate is over when a developing human gains human rights. You care more about my jizz as a moral subject than you do an adult cow.
/r/MensRights07/04/22 09:48 PM
2

Lol I knew it was going to go there. But I gave you the benefit of the doubt. Yes yes yes we have souls that must be it. Luckily we live in a secular society who’s governing documents make no mention of god or souls or Christ so your religious argument holds no water in terms of legality of abortion in the US. Atheists do not believe murder is right. You don’t need God to reach that obvious conclusion. In fact we are more loving than Christians such as yourself since we defend non-human life too…

No. You said it peaks at 10 and declines after. You think declining function equals development? Development means growth. Decline does not mean growth.

Based on those qualities it would be equally wrong to kill an ant. There is nothing inherently more valuable about a human life over an ant…if these qualities don’t matter.

Sure hope you’re a vegan.

Is the prefrontal cortex not part of the brain? Okay let’s say 10. Is that not well after being a fetus? You just owned yourself. Thanks.
/r/MensRights07/04/22 08:42 PM

If not for awareness and sentience then what makes it wrong to kill something? You think it’s equally bad to kill a fetus as a cockroach?!
/r/MensRights07/04/22 08:35 PM
7

Does she have to register as a sex offender at least?!
/r/MensRights07/04/22 07:40 PM

Lol it is not sentient nor self aware. And your brain doesn’t stop developing until youre 25 so you’re a bit off.
/r/MensRights07/04/22 07:19 PM
-1

One is able to exist independently of the other, for one. If that werent obvious enough, it is also quite obvious that a fetus lacks self awareness. It is not aware it is alive nor can it express the desire to go on living. It does not have hopes and wishes for the future - this is related to the biology of the brain development obviously.
/r/MensRights07/04/22 07:14 PM
-1

Lol you really need me to explain the differences between a fetus and an adult?!
/r/MensRights07/04/22 07:07 PM

Why are those bad things? (Failing Infrastructure and collapse and so on)?
/r/MensRights07/04/22 06:49 PM
1

Nice strawman. But you’re good at these fallacies! Membership to the species Homo sapiens does not mean it is automatically immoral to kill a thing. A fetus and adult woman have different moral weight. That’s why we care more about a woman maintaining her bodily autonomy (the right to do with her body what she wants) than a fetus (as you suggested nobody care about the dead babies autonomy). Now we’re back on track.
/r/MensRights07/04/22 06:48 PM
3

You seem to agree there are degrees of autonomy and you’ve chosen a reduction to absurdity route in your argument. The difference is you have chosen to be reliant on farmers. You could grow your own food but you have decided you’d rather be a slave to big-AG. A fetus has no choice but to be reliant on the health of the mother.
/r/MensRights07/04/22 06:36 PM
3

It is bodily autonomy yes. By your definition, no one has body autonomy because we rely on a farmer to grow food we buy and so on.
/r/MensRights07/04/22 06:29 PM
4

Why is population growth decline a bad thing?
/r/MensRights07/04/22 06:25 PM
1

Why is it wrong to kill a fetus?
/r/MensRights07/04/22 06:20 PM
3

Yes…it can live separately from any other living organism. Did you not know what bodily autonomy meant?
/r/MensRights07/04/22 06:11 PM
1

I said it can inform our morals. There are other factors too but if you think science plays no role in moral judgements you are sadly mistaken. It’s a fact that they do.
/r/MensRights07/04/22 06:10 PM
1

You’re suggesting moral decisions are arbitrary but the people in this very thread hold different moral positions based on science…such as when a fetus feels pain or gains self awareness.
/r/MensRights07/04/22 06:01 PM
1

What you base those moral decisions on can be based on evidence that includes science my friend. It became unethical to expose workers and people to lead and asbestos when we found out - scientifically - how dangerous they are.
/r/MensRights07/04/22 05:59 PM
3

Except scientific data can inform our morals. It’s not mutually exclusive. “Hmm we did some tests and found out a human fetus feels excruciating pain at 2 weeks. Guess abortion is unethical after all.”
/r/MensRights07/04/22 05:55 PM
7

I’m being genuine. I agree but the position I always see in the media for pro-choice is more focused on bodily autonomy than why it’s okay to kill a fetus. It leaves the two sides arguing past each other. Pro-lifers chief concern seems to be that abortion is akin to murder. I think we have to engage on that point. Because if it is murder, then the bodily autonomy point isn’t going to supersede that.
/r/MensRights07/04/22 05:49 PM

Both sides SHOULD agree on the goal of minimizing abortions. And do the things you said like sex Ed and birth control access. But the right likes to restrict access to birth control too. They expect us to go against our nature and just abstain until we’re married.
/r/MensRights07/04/22 05:22 PM

It seems anti-science to ignore the biological differences between human adults and human fetuses.
/r/MensRights07/04/22 05:18 PM

Two wrongs make a right? You can advocate for both things. Sounds like you’re just being vindictive. Wearing a mask for COVID is different because the spread of COVID affects other people. Your choice to wear a mask or not affects those around you. Aborting a fetus does not directly affect anyone else.
/r/MensRights07/04/22 05:17 PM

A fetus is human but killing it is not wrong. That’s the position pro-choice people such as myself should be taking.
/r/MensRights07/04/22 05:13 PM

Lol that’s how normal conception works! The mother doesn’t know what sex their baby will be. Not rape. Also, if gender is a social construct, wtf does she care?!

It’d be one step closer to equality for them.

I don’t know anything about the merits of this case, but as an antinatalist I do think being born is a harm done unto us by others. That being said it would get rather absurd if everyone started to be able to sue their parents or parents doctors for being born. I believe this possibility was satirized in a Kurt Vonnegut short story actually.
/r/MensRights02/12/21 05:45 PM

Fear of crime is not necessarily equivalent to the risk. Women seem to have a perception that the risk is higher than it actually is for them, and they use that as evidence that the risk is higher. Circular logical fallacy of some sort. This has made me recall when I was in college circa 2007 and lived on campus. A girl from another dorm, across campus, may have been hanging out with my friends and I late into the night and ask to have someone walk her back to her dorm. I did this a few times an…

Women’s suffrage was a movement. It had a well-defined, tangible goal. Feminism is so vague and wide reaching that it has lost any meaning. Every feminist I’ve met agrees with/disagrees with different aspects of feminism. That’s why I couldn’t ever call myself a feminist. I don’t know what the hell it even means anymore. There are some positions under the umbrella of feminism I agree with but then there’s so much other toxic garbage lumped alongside it.

In a backwards way, they are acknowledging the burden of work that men did when they weren’t in war. To say women doing those jobs is as bad as going to war is to say that men fought in a daily war at home before being shipped off. Even if you accepted their argument, it means that men had it worse. Yes many of those jobs were dangerous and lacked as many safety regulations that we have now…but your survival rate was better than going to war and you didn’t necessarily get all the unseen injuries…

Clearest example of systemic discrimination of men is military conscription. You can point to how men have composed the bulk of every military and warriors in tribes everywhere in the world and in every culture throughout history. Doesn’t get more systemic than that. Her bad take is ignorance. We’re just not taught to even consider anything to do with men as being an issue specific to men. So I understand her ignorance because I used to be in that mindset too.
