The reason I came to this subreddit was simple. I could never talk to women. I never have classified myself as alpha/beta, because I'm not a PUA, I don't compete for anything, least of all women. I've always had trouble approaching people, even just to talk to them and make new friends. Happily, here I've learned much about AA and how to combat it, as well as ways to start conversations. If you're having trouble with the approach, try it on guys first. I find it a lot easier talking to guys about video games and cars than stuttering in front of a woman. I support you 100%! (Though I am currently taking those SSRIs. Maaaan they make life easier.)

Want to know what's worked for me 6 times out of 6? "Hi." <crickets> "Yeah, I just tried to approach you to help me overcome crippling anxiety issues. Thanks for not pepper spraying me." Seriously. It's worked every time I've tried it. Then the conversation normally leads to "Yeah, I know how that can be", and then you can go on talking about life experiences and if she has any good tips. No, I never asked for a phone number. Not quite up there yet...
