Absolutely. I was going to go rape someone today and then this sign reminded me not to. Convenient, really.

Well, when they have a judge they can just call up to rubber stamp a search warrant, it kinda does work like that. Or bring in a trained K-9 - those never do false/triggered alerts, no never.

No, I'm pretty sure the original text said "love your neighbor, unless he likes men". Things get lost in translation sometimes. /s

I guess my comment was directed more at the idea that free speech should have any boundaries to begin with, especially on a university campus. You know, that place most people consider to be a bastion of free-flowing knowledge and discourse.
/r/MensRights13/02/13 09:25 PM

That's atrocious.

Yes. That's what it's assuming: that she's entering her number in his phone - instead, sends a text to the Red Cross number.
/r/MensRights09/11/12 04:08 PM
4

Yes, absolutely. Denouncing bigotry and embracing equality is what we're trying to do here. The trip-up often occurs with the ticklish task of what exactly defines bigotry. Feminists (even the truly egalitarian ones) seem to have this odd knee-jerk reaction to anything that's not feminism as being bigotry. I think, to an extent, MRA's can fall into the same trap. So, it just comes down to patient, kind sharing of knowledge on both sides.
/r/MensRights07/11/12 04:36 PM
15

The ideals of feminism back when it started? Sure, we can all agree that equality is a good thing. However, man-hating radfems and MRAs? Not compatible worldviews. One wants to eliminate all men, one wants equal custody and sexual rights.

But you have interests - you're the kind of person who takes an interest in something. Guaranteed, there's someone out there who would find even your somewhat esoteric hobby fascinating. It'll be a much smaller subset than, say, if you were a private jet pilot who rescues lost puppies, but it's better than having no internal drive.
/r/seduction07/09/12 07:32 PM
3

People without hobbies tend to be less interested in things in general, less full of life, less fun to talk to. Maybe I worded it too obscurely, but if your potential partner has at least some interest, there's something interesting you two can talk about or even do together. Even if it's not a shared interest, it can be fun to absorb their knowledge.
/r/seduction07/09/12 05:46 PM
9

Can't overemphasize this enough. People with hobbies are inevitably more interesting than those without. Side note: Date someone without hobbies only with extreme caution. I've always regretted it when I do.

/r/MensRights30/08/12 08:41 PM

Yeah, that's precisely what worries me about this. The only mitigating factor here is that it's a private cab company doing it, and they should have the right to monitor people in their places of business, much in the same way a convenience store would.

We've had birth control for 100 years... you're missing the whole point here, which is what is to happen after birth control has either not been used, or failed to do its job, and one party wants out.

At which point the woman has every right to terminate the pregnancy if it's going to be financially infeasible to raise the child. Equal rights are maintained as much as biology will allow. it's being approached from the wrong angle. I'll bite... what's the "right" angle?
/r/MensRights19/07/12 10:00 PM
4

Explain your reasoning?
/r/MensRights19/07/12 09:30 PM
3

I dunno. Maybe I have had the fortune to hang out with people who don't make that kind of talk, but it seems like it just comes down to basic human jealousy and a failure to understand that another person's priorities may differ from yours. My attitude is, and always has been, this: You like spending your money on x? Sweet, glad you have something you like. I happen to like spending my money on y, and I think that's okay too. I wonder why more people can't see it that way... maybe they're the on…
/r/MensRights19/07/12 09:11 PM

Makes total sense... I mean, the absolute last thing you want on a dating website is for people to contact you.

Weird. I was running game at the bowling alley the other day and did not find this to be the case. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Eugenics is also painfully misunderstood on reddit. Which is also a shame.
/r/MensRights26/05/12 04:26 PM

Not necessarily. Lots of people throw away money on a new vehicle every couple years... never get the oil changed, don't bother replacing bulbs. Their cars become the kind of used vehicle you want to steer clear of.

I'm not abandoning my family my moving out is what is best You'll need to pick one. Because it's pretty much a done deal that your ex's lawyer will spin your moving out as abandoning your family, regardless of whether it was mutually agreed upon or what was signed. I'm sorry, but this is how these cases go.
/r/MensRights02/05/12 09:11 PM
2

Yep, absolutely agreed.
/r/MensRights19/04/12 03:13 PM

The fact remains though, that some people's rights are impinged on by the policies in place due to feminism. By my understanding of libertarianism, this is a problem because it affects personal freedoms.

The issue that people have a concern about is the punishment for the same crimes being different based on gender. We're not disagreeing that maybe punishments for some crimes is kind of fucked up, like your example. This sub is about differential and unfair treatment based on gender lines.
/r/MensRights10/04/12 09:27 PM
11

Why the downvotes? These are lyrics to one of the songs referenced in the parent post...
/r/MensRights04/04/12 11:46 PM
15

Fucking hate that song. And, guaranteed, everytime I go to karaoke someone's going to sing it. Of course, it's kind of my fault for going to a karaoke bar in the first place.
/r/MensRights04/04/12 11:35 PM
3

Yeah, you're probably right that it was a passing comment... gotta remember, bad/shocking news sells copy. I think the real issue here is that even if any rational person wouldn't get all worked up over it, there's going to be someone out there who does take it to heart. Hooray for advancing the state of our culture! /facepalm
/r/MensRights30/01/12 11:09 PM

I agree that a cheating partner of either gender deserves, at the least, reprimand. For many of us I think it would be a dealbreaker. However, "kill my partner" is still not something that should be put on the cover of a magazine. And it's definitely not something that a man could be publicly quoted as saying without the shit hitting the fan.
/r/MensRights30/01/12 10:53 PM
2

Doesn't matter if it's a turn of phrase. It's fucked the hell up that this thinking is even acceptable in our society.
/r/MensRights30/01/12 10:39 PM
6

Doesn't everybody, though? I mean, at some level, you want the most for your dollar/effort/whatever. Ninja edit: Not to say it's right.
/r/MensRights20/01/12 02:35 AM

But, see, prostitution is immoral, so we couldn't possibly allow that to be legal in this country. Coercing others into buying you things for your looks and the possibility you'll sleep with them, though, that's just fine. /s
/r/MensRights19/01/12 11:47 PM

As offhanded as that may or may not have been... that goes deep. And kinda makes sense.

/r/MensRights18/09/11 01:13 AM

But that's just it, it's not really public. At least some of what you post is available only to people with whom you have elected to share it. And those people shouldn't be reposting your info all over the internet. EDIT: And regardless, it's still against Reddit policy. So it's kind of a moot point.

I had no problem with this piece. Really, it's a more eloquent way of saying something that's been stated many times on this subreddit: Don't stick your dick in crazy. Or, in this case, in someone you can't trust. That's pretty simple, decent advice.
/r/MensRights03/07/11 11:16 PM

The scary thing is, that was written entirely without irony.
/r/MensRights03/07/11 06:30 PM

I'm not disagreeing that those are probably inaccurate statements, but to take one case and make an broad and equally inaccurate generalization from it is inappropriate and portrays MRA's as small-minded as feminists are.
/r/MensRights01/07/11 11:34 PM
20

Right, but your putting it in those particular words does no favors to the men's rights movement. There's a difference between being right, and saying it right.
/r/MensRights01/07/11 10:17 PM
1

Yeah, that gave me pause too. You know how the US govt is about footage of its agents, though... in many states it's illegal to take video of public servants going about their duties.
/r/MensRights29/06/11 02:40 AM
3

Not arguing that the blind spots aren't a problem. The size of the vehicle and the ineptitude of drivers coincide to exacerbate it, though. Idiot drivers will be idiots, no matter how much tech you surround them with. Go anywhere in the US, you'll find people driving without seatbelts, failing to use their turn signals, turning without even glancing in their mirrors (or worse, using the mirrors to apply makeup), and going more than the recommended 12 years without servicing their airbags. There …
/r/MensRights27/06/11 04:33 AM

And now she's trying to blame the auto industry for not idiotproofing her gas guzzler. Fantastic... more shit I have to pay for when I buy a new car.

In principle, yes. However, this is another one of those things where you're opening an ugly can of worms. Where do we stop telling people what they can and can't do, once we start?
/r/MensRights08/06/11 07:52 PM

No, but all religious organizations require that their members blindly believe some unlikely things.
/r/MensRights08/06/11 07:19 PM

How much would you fight to avoid NEVER seeing your kids again? I think we all agree his ex is a bitch, buddy. And this forum is generally of the opinion that the govt has a tendency to enable this behaviour. Well, obviously, but they aren't going to do that by themselves, are they? And they CERTAINLY won't do that if he leaves the country.
/r/MensRights30/05/11 08:38 PM
1

I'd hope so... with this case it sounds like that would be very difficult to accomplish, though.
/r/MensRights30/05/11 08:03 PM

And you're giving up on reversing that.
/r/MensRights30/05/11 08:03 PM
