biggest generally held idea for ”greater purpose” is to reproduce, but current terms for that are so horrible (divorce rape, denial of parenthood etc) that any risk-averse person will think twice. if you cannot really trust your partner, why would you do 18 year deal with them? yes i would agree with this. and the logical conclusion of this: well, the purpose is very much personal anyway. there is no well-defined greater purpose anyway. is basically nihilism. would you agree?
