Y'all overpay for condoms. If girls are lucky enough to be able to take birth control pills and have insurance, they're cheap. But sometimes they're not cheap If you live in the US, you can go to Planned Parenthood, which has both for pretty cheap. Concerning why girls should always get birth control for free, especially from a MR perspective: condom broke and she couldn't afford birth control. Do you want to be responsible for that baby?

I feel like I can't believe that these kinds of world views are as popular as they probably are. I never liked Raymond.

That level of daftness is despicable. Like only men are responsible when sex occurs. It's a man's fault that the woman got pregnant, not hers. It's not shared responsibility. There are not many things I hate in this world, but this is one of them. It makes me feel, as a woman, that I'm not mature, intelligent, or capable of owning my responsibilities BECAUSE I'm a woman. And I'm here because I'm pretty sure men sometimes feel this way in reaction to society's prejudices.

You have every right to defend yourself against anyone attacking you, regardless of gender.

It took less than 30 seconds to actually fill in relevant information. And no, he probably didn't read it. My guess is he deduced what the petition would say, even if not being fully aware of the finer points, and decided it wasn't worth his time, which he'd rather spend being a father to his kids.

Now you are just looking for a reason to be offended. You should know that some people make sham petitions. I always read them to make sure they state what they claim which is part of the act of signing a petition. The Man Show once got a bunch of women to sign a petition to end women's suffrage. It's just a bad idea to not know what you are agreeing to. You can be nitpicky about my choice of words, but in the end, it doesn't matter. If he doesn't want to sign it, he doesn't have to. If he wants…

I signed the petition and it certainly didn't take 30 seconds. I took the time to read what the petition actually said, and I thought it was a cause worth fighting for. He disagreed, and had every right to. Misrepresented fathers and starving children/people with disabilities/homeless vets/whatever other charity you can think of, are 2 very different beasts. The 'crappy dads' campaign by Huggies is a /firstworldproblem. Edit: more importantly, it doesn't prevent him from being a good father.

If you don't care about it, then don't sign and 'hide' the links. You don't have to leave the subreddit.

You may want to avoid Huggies even after this ordeal is over. They suck.

He has the right to not be offended. He doesn't have to pick up a pitchfork because other dads are offended.

It certainly seemed genuine when you wrote it. But I appreciate your apology nonetheless.

I don't support that kind of unwarranted behavior from women, which is also why I called you out on it. That was a terribly shitty thing to say. It's not fair of you to make this into a gender war (them vs us) and then say something along the same lines that 'they' say. You are pulling the same crappy shenanigans that 'they' do and think that you are still better for it. That's not equality. It's still not right when you say it. I get where your anger is coming from. I've read some really terrib…

Wtf? I'm a woman and for equal rights. I frequent this reddit because I thought the men here were also for equal rights. Don't be a dick just because some women don't fucking get it. I do and take serious offense to your comment.

Women rape too. Edit: I couldn't leave it at that. Many times, rape is not just about sexual pleasure for the perpetrator, it is about domination. Needing to have power and control in a situation. Yes, frequently, we hear of men raping women. However, every other type of rape exists as well, including: woman on man and woman on woman. To say only men rape is a blatant falsehood.

Being raped is pretty terrible thing. I'm sorry you had to go through that. But you were not raped by every man. Not every woman has been raped. And men are raped too. I did not blame victims for the crime of their perpetrator. And I'll gladly fight oppressive systems. But you weren't raped because of an oppressive system. You were raped by a sick individual. Becoming an oppressive matriarchal system is not the answer.

How have you personally been oppressed by men?

guilty *until proven innocent Unfortunately, this is pretty much the standard if there is evidence of some kind of sexual contact.

It's not just about the rape. Like in the link, the guy was passed out drunk and woke up to a girl on top of him and he was inside her. He was forced into something he didn't want to do, and that's bad enough. But after the incident was over, she accused him of rape and nobody believed him. He was harassed for even suggesting that he was raped and ended up having to tranfer to a different college . That is different than the trauma of being forced raped, but it's still an awful experience to go …

The double standard concerning rape has been a recent revelation to me (I'm a woman) and now everytime I see how people react to men who have been sexually assaulted I'm embarrassed because I would've acted similarly (what? He was raped? Whatever, men don't get raped! That kind of thing) not too long ago. There was a good Iama I'll link to that opened my eyes. Found it.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
