It's not about turning gay, it's about having less courage to live out already existing bisexual tendencies compared to women.

This comment section is already filled with the usual points, so I'll try to add something new. Have you ever wondered why so many "incels" don't just start dating men? I bet you'll have the initial impulse of "Oh well they're all heterosexual obviously" at first, but... are they? We see in basically every survey that women are far more likely to identify as bisexual than men, that they are far more likely to come out if they are bisexual - and that they are FAR more likely to reject a man solel…

It was actually not Oscar Wilde but probably some random dude who nobody knows who tried to summarize Freud's teachings with humor. But a fancy quote with a noname author sucks so people apparently decided Oscar has to take the fall for it after House of Cards made it blow up online.

A) Yeah sure, we will only send pregnant women to the front, just as we only let men in wheelchairs fight. Modern military is too stupid to ensure that you're physically capable, you got me there. B) This is a very valid point, let's talk about the sexual harassment problem in the military - that also affects tons of guys who are involuntarily getting drafted. One more reason to be against mandatory military service. C) If women get periods and therefore can't serve in the military, are all of t…

The porn industry often is due to its human trafficking and "let's just drug them to get their consent" type of problems, and if you're creative then you could also make the point for the medical sector being "violent" due to lack of research in female bodies and gender-specific symptoms etc. that lead to higher rates of female deaths for some diseases or so. And the dairy industry, if you adopt a multispecies lens perhaps, but you can't really isolate the dairy industry from the meat industry, …

People defining words to mean what they want them to mean has always happened, and it has always been stupid. The proper way is to follow their lead and ask them to define even more, and more, and more until they themselves don't even know what the hell they're talking about. How do you define oppression in this framework? At what threshold does institutionalized violence become systematic? In the end, it's never about whose definition is the prettiest - it's about the value judgment implication…

Once upon a time, feminists called this thing patriarchy, where society believes that the worth of a man is measured by the number and/or the quality of the women (or anything else really) he is able to "conquer" for himself. Nowadays, self-proclaimed "feminists" embrace this transactional logic to the fullest, calling men who can't get a girlfriend incels and making sure to tell them that the only reason they're single is due to their repulsive personality. The logic is still the same. It's jus…

The "male" loneliness epidemic should be called the Gen Z "social media turned me into an egocentric narcissist why don't other people like me?" epidemic. Feminists should care, especially left wing feminists who should be VERY skeptical of megacorporations gaining more and more of a monopoly on our entire social lives.

You should talk to whoever created https://menarehuman.com/, they originated from Reddit as well if I remember correctly, and your idea seems like a great integration into their website. Could save you some time perhaps and a lot of marketing efforts because that website is already somewhat known.

Finally a person that read the title of this sub and understands that this here is supposed to be a left-wing bubble. Thank you!

Oh man hahaha, I've read it (and a few more of her books) and there is so much feminist literature on the topic that is MUCH better. I was shocked beyond measure that she published this entire book without a single empirical source or argument, and basically wrote 150 pages about her feelings on why men should be feminists. From my point of view, most feminist authors you can randomly stumble upon are far better than bell books if you'd like to understand the systematic nature of gender relation…

Never said that you must apply feminist theory to understand men's issues, that's completely up to you to decide. Same with using knowledge from MRA to understand women's issues, I sometimes do that as well, and have yet to be called a misogynist for it. Gender dynamics are a system and can only be understood as such. All of these criticisms boil down to the fact that the current societal hegemonic idea of feminism does not understand this systematic nature, so I'm completely with you here. Most…

I am a feminist. The current struggles of men can be explained really well via applying feminist theory / the conceptual framework of a patriarchal dominance culture. What I oppose is something I'd like to call "internet feminism" - an ideology with occasional cult-like features in which the goal of feminism is much more to celebrate male-gendered struggles or get really really angry about female-gendered struggles rather than to work on a better society for us all.

It's a symptom of a patriarchal dominance culture. Loneliness is a negative emotion, a "weakness", it cannot be permitted in this system. Men are supposed to abandon their humanity and function like machines no matter what in this collective delusion. As soon as men struggle emotionally, it is their individual fault rather than a feature of larger societal systems, and it is also seen as proof of a generally repulsive character to most people ("Feeling lonely and nobody wants you? You must be a …

Well... the largest part of human history happened before we've even had agriculture, and the anthropological consensus actually is that human societies were entirely equal during that period. Riane Eisler refers to this state as a partnership culture in her books such as Nurturing Our Humanity, and Marx called it primitive communism. And there were plenty of smaller tribes that continued to exist for quite a long time in such an egalitarian state, if you're interested, check out the book that I…

Anthropologically speaking, patriarchy came most likely into existence because of the second agricultural revolution. Agriculture became more physically demanding, so pregnant women were way more negatively affected by it than men, so many societies started to divide labor between the sexes stronger than before - to benefit women. But, as it turned out, this led to more dependency, more power imbalances, and in the end to the first patriarchal domination cultures... and the key tipping point was…

Then who started handing out voting rights back when no woman had any? This one is a no-brainer. Yeah it certainly helps if the person that should change their mind can identify with the perspective of the one trying to do the changing - but neither men nor women are brainless zombies destined to follow the crowd.

Misandry is actually a core foundation of patriarchy, it keeps the system running. Men are characterized as objects, emotionless, worthless without status, forced to put on a mask of stoicism, all that jazz people call toxic masculinity... and therefore have to "earn" their societal value by becoming dominators, keeping the patriarchal system alive. Patriarchy is a ladder where the top % of psycho guys rule the world while the rest of the population inevitably lose - and that includes the majori…

Thank you. The archetype of the "modern man" who is one of the good guys is still a patriarch - just a very kind and compassionate one who gives women his power for free. But it's still expected to dominate, to outperform, to carry the world on your shoulders and never complain even if people despise you for simply existing - and mediocrity / men who are genuinely equal in all regards to women get mocked and looked down upon.

I'm not religious but I like the Buddha / Jesus / charismatic optimistic type of politician vibe. Jordan Peterson is an idiot. Never heard about the good men project. Honestly, I think masculinity really is a pointless term. We should promote good behavior to create good people, no matter their gender, and we should build a world where everyone can feel safe and respected, no matter their gender.

I think my stance on this is that patriarchy was real for most of human history and still is real in quite a few countries around the world. Also, there are still remnants of this social structure embedded in the western world here and there. But if there is one aspect of hegemonical oppression, it's the idea that the group in charge / ruling class is actually victimized + high emotionalism / the idea of a just and necessary fight. The nazis framed the Jews in this way (feminists aren't just lik…

From many conversations I've had with feminists, the typical argument I've heard is this one: - We live in a patriarchy where men are in charge and the fact that I can't recognize my privilege is proof of it. - These prejudices are all very justified, reasonable reactions to that patriarchal oppression. They wouldn't be there if the system weren't unfair after all. I never understood it. They never wanted to explain more because I'm a man and it's not their job to educate men on feminism, I shou…

You forgot the expectation that men should be competent in basically every single thing you can do in life and that not being in the upper percentile in just one of these areas makes quite a few people view you as worthless. We have to be machines and deliver outstanding results in every single life area or else it's selfish, or being a loser, or you taking advantage of patriarchal privileges, or whatever. And, even if you do perform perfectly well in an area, there are still a lot of people ang…

Hey, I'm so sorry for the way your life has played out so far. It's not your fault men feel shunned, you don't need to apologize for that. Despite of all the pain many men caused you throughout your life, you still value kindness and empathy more than that, you don't view men as the enemy and can still see people behind all of that. I think that's great and you should be proud of having this strong character, there are many men and women who lose themselves to the abyss. As for fears and hesitat…

I mean as soon as you enter socialist circles, a lot of the people there are women and I have yet to meet a single one of them who isn't passionate about feminism. If you're a man and the first things you hear when you become curious about this side of the political spectrum is "YOU are DESTROYING everything!!!" and what horrible monsters men are, that's as if McDonald's is butchering the animals right at the counter where you order the food. Whether or not these points hold truth to them immedi…
