Who knows, but she's a woman so it will get coverage. The whole thing could be untrue too, we don't know yet. Unfortunately it's a waiting game, and due to the underage victim there will likely be a publication ban- so it will be hard top follow without attending the court dates.

If you are not Canadian than you might not know that CP24 is dog shit when it comes to reporting. Here is a better article: https://www.google.ca/amp/s/beta.ctvnews.ca/content/ctvnews/en/national/canada/2018/10/11/1_4129862.html Unfortunately, Canada has a lot of female perpetrators of sex crimes against children - it's less an issue of sentencing disparity between men and women and more an issue of sentencing between cases being ineffectively applied to men and women. Some men and women get the…

She's currently on unpaid leave. She also had a side-hobby with music hence the "alias" and students might know her from that - her lyrics are pretty creepy. Not sure why this case is on men's rights though.

I agree with you (I'm Canadian as well btw). The biggest difference is that the supreme court is often ruled by interpretations - these are not open and shut cases like the case you presented there was no constitutional challenge. Every scotus is biased in some way hence why they say left or right leaning in their interpretations, but the key is that we trust in their ability to remove as much bias as possible. I do not trust that Kavanaugh can do that and I'm entitled to my opinion based on obs…

I agree but I disagree that it's an assertion to use against the non-biological parent. If the mother doesn't know who created the kid it's poor justification to take it out on a person through child support who took up that mantle to love and care for that child of their own free will.

I agree. I don't believe he raped/assaulted anyone, but there are a whole myriad of other reasons why he is not a good candidate for the supreme court starting with his internal bias.

I don't think this situation should be a strike against him, innocent until proven guilty - however, I also don't think Kavanaugh is supreme court material either. If these allegations are in fact false then these people will have hurt their own cause trying to prevent him from getting on the SC. Let him interview and let things take their due course!

I don't doubt it's possible but the divorce was due to her infidelity, her moral character was already brought into question before the incident. Reading about the guys reddit post puts a much different perspective on this trial considering the information that is readily available.

I would argue that wages and opportunities are different. While there are some unremarkable studies on Canadian pay equality, I'm more interested in what you, as a Canadian female, do not have an opportunity to pursue due to systematic or legal issues (not biological, personal or emotional - despite these being common barriers for everyone). Or maybe someone you know for that matter.

I know the section of the code, but you would have a hard time with your defense in a court of law. The crown prosecution would definitely bring into question that if it was for your own protection why you wouldn't inform them before the sexual act took place. There really is no valid defense. Actually, why not look up some case studies, has your defense ever been used successfully?

Your assessment of Peter Mansbridge is really off. I'm assuming you aren't Canadian, but Mansbridge is a very even-handed interviewer and has been for many many years. Many people in Canadian law and politics will talk with Mansbridge because of his reputation, even on controversial subjects. If you think this is "White Knighting" on the part of Mansbridge, then anything with Cenk Uygur must blow your mind.

I'm no fan of feminism, but your spin on Sanders abortion stance is just as bad as the way feminism spins statistics. Sanders wants abortion to be between a woman and her doctor, rightfully so. Government moderation of the issue hasn't really made much sense, shitty people will have shitty reasons for abortion but they are not the norm and likely rare. Forcing women to have children makes men even more vulnerable because the state has to recoup that money some how, who do they target? Guess who.…

I agree with everything, except the "sexually assaulting a minor" part. The age of consent is 16 in Penn. This woman abused her authority, willing participant or not, the punishment should be equally applied. Lauren Cooper got 23 months for sex with an 18 year old student (with possibly others, I don't remember all the details), while I still think it's not quite enough for abusing your position it's definitely better than this ruling.

Thanks for re-reading. No one says it can't happen, but we also can't be certain the reverse isn't true either. What we do know is there are many factors at play and to model simple statistics after real life is doing a great disservice about the true issues at play. The labor study does a good job of highlighting certain issues that should be addressed: Women are almost universally expected to deal with child-rearing, while men have a monopoly on work that can (and often does) kill them (https:…

I'm sorry Siiimo, I like how aggressively you pursue your arguments and you certainly read what people link (often a rarity) but in this case the authors intent of the line you quoted in the conclusion is meant to say that is not possible to truly know and hence we cannot claim it is definitely discrimination. It's a poorly worded conclusion.

It depends. Forming an opinion about something before data is collected is seen as a very 'improper' form of scientific research, especially in psychology and statistics. The accepted form would be to establish the null hypothesis first, in this case that men do not in fact suffer from discrimination in these sorts of cases. The point of the data is to reject the null hypothesis, to show there is a correlation. From there the data should be extrapolated on so that several plausible hypothesis ca…

Punishing an accuser when no evidence exists is pretty much exactly the same as punishing an accused rapist just on the accusation alone. This is what we want to avoid! Evidence must exist that an intentional falsification was created for punishment, just like actual police work should go into cases of rape rather than rely solely on testimonials and DNA forensic analysis.

I'm not sure what you are getting at? Vaginas in their natural state are in fact ugly? Is that it? You know many men do elect to undergo circumcision as a cosmetic procedure later in life, which I assume if you read the intent of my post would realize I am comparing them as a cosmetic procedure. Men and women should groom their pubic region, but airbrushing and photoshopping change the very landscape which would be only obtainable with surgery, like labia reduction surgery, reducing the size and…

My post wasn't a reference to that, my post was a reference to normal being ugly which is mind-blowing it's received so many upvotes. Normal is normal, an unkempt vagina is generally just as ugly as an unkempt person, which is obviously highly dependent on the observer, but that is just common sense. It's the same practice which circumcision, I don't feel that an uncircumcised penis is ugly, as I am sure plenty of people don't, I don't find a circumcised penis particularly beautiful either, but …

While she seems like she certainly has no patience she is right that tests for HPV do not exist for men and they types they can screen for in women are selective (usually beyond the scope of a simple clinic). As someone who suffered from depression I wouldn't say I am an authority on depression, everything I think and felt and did is colored by depression (or that's what psychologists would have me believe), but who is to say my perception of the depression I experience is correct or all-encompassing. I don't really think the gay marriage thing boils down to a matter of rights. Technically all men cannot marry men, likewise for women, gay or straight. The opposition to gay marriage is absolutely wrong, any gay pairing should absolutely have the option to marry, the archaic ideals of christian law that surround marriage need a large modernization. If it's not illegal/unethical to be gay, why should marriage be off the table? I suppose it's a technicality, but I never bought into the 'right sup…

I disagree on your assumption that the statement implies feminist slant. I believe the statement itself implies that because feminist researchers have been 'deconstructing' the 'misogynistic' studies, more analysis opportunities has come to light, this of course could be favorable or not, who knows. I don't think it's that simple though. Children do need the support. All the above reasons you posted are about awful people abusing the system, and your solution really only harms the child. Child support needs reform... badly, but not every man is a victim and not every woman is an abuser. I'm inclined to agree with your perspective, but I think what the person you are arguing with is saying is that the original data being used is biased or compromised considering it's geographic location, which is a possibility. Your margin of error is essentially irrelevant if you conduct your survey in an area where rape couldn't feasibly exist (I am saying this from a theoretical stand point). That being said however, I do not understand why people don't look at this study and say it says some…

The fact that we can still be drafted though is a point of debate. I mean if 40 years down the line another world war breaks out and we didn't retcon the draft to be either everyone or no one, we only have ourselves to blame. I don't think not talking about it is going to help that process.

I didn't mean to stop all crime, I was implying more about how do you create punishment for the 'why' of the crime. I don't believe crimes of opportunity are inherently worse than crimes of passion or vice versa. It almost seems like a slippery slope to punish someone for the 'why' of a crime, like some sort of minority report.

Perhaps you are right to some extent. But will the why of a crime ever be consistent enough to create a solution for it?

I've often wondered when attacking an ideology with parody and derision became the modus operandi for disagreeing, rather than an insightful reflection, for the vocal representation. Everything is an attack, it's very disheartening. Sitting in on a Gail Dynes lecture is a perfect example of what modern philosophical ideological debate has come down to. "You are wrong, I refuse to listen to what you say, my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge or wisdom" is becoming a mantra.

Except many schools are requiring more and more vaccines as mandatory. When I went to school in the 90s the Hep-B was mandatory. Even despite this, the nurse administering the shot ensured that both the parents and myself (as a child) we're aware of what she was doing and why. The 'benefits' of circumcisions are not even close to being valuable enough to warrant the mutilation of an infant in developed countries, and it is still suspect in non-developed countries in my opinion.

I understand that so much emphasis is put on to grades and a piece of paper. You would figure though, that in an institution of higher learning that more would people would stop to think about getting all they can while they are there, rather than narrowly focus on what is critical. I mean at the end of the day, the grade grubber and the true student end up at the same place. I guess grade grubbing gets you the job though, might explain why I am where I am.

You are missing out on many other defenses of marriage by not being married. If your state does not recognize common-law relationships, it's likely that insurance coverage also will not, which includes health, dental and life insurance (all great things to have). You will be asking him to pay a premium on his insurance to add you for coverage which you would be entitled to if you were married. Perhaps your insurance coverage is adequate now, but as age and health issues pile on it may not always…

It's easy if you are a woman, as women are about 60% of college grads these days. I don't understand the 'I'll take the easy course' mentality of higher learning. I wanted to take courses I was interested in. For my GECs I took a law course pertaining to Criminal Law in Canada, two Politics courses ('intro to' and 'behaviors and outcomes'), and a philosophy course (morality and ethics, I took this one to specifically debate feminism). I just don't understand it. I met many Kinesiology majors jus…

It is my contention that (in light of recent activity there) the action was only considered acceptable by the responsible party because Hogan is a man. I agree with everything except this. Safety isn't going to come by being sequestered from women. The reason we discuss and converse about equal and unequal treatment is because we want to interact with women on a much more fundamental level. It's sad to say, but females are the salvation in movement to achieve equilibrium of rights. Without women like you that can see issues, even if all men said 'this is unfair!', we would still be seen as a group of misogynists. I guess that's the critical difference; we want to show women and me…

The reasons were pretty flimsy for trying to bar condom use anyway. It is safer for everyone involved, but it won't completely eliminated unprotected sex in film. Some producers, like Wicked Entertainment, have a condom policy so they are on top of things.

They are not tested every 30 days. Most reputable shoots from reputable producers require a clean test from within 30 days of shooting. In many cases most starlets do a handful of movies (6 to 7 or more) in 3 to 4 weeks and then take time off (sometimes months). Some starlets who continuously shoot (like Belladonna in her heyday or Gauge), performed pretty continuously and made monthly trips, but it is not required by the industry.

Absolutely. I discuss in terms of extremes, like a mathematical set of irreducible numbers (in this case bodily autonomy), in no way is it bad to consult someone but no one should ever have a say over your own feelings for your own body, not a spouse, not the government, not even GOD if you're a believer (like reprehensible Jewish circumcision) OTHER than in cases of life saving necessity/incapacitation.

As I said, there are a myriad of options available to women, there are two for men, sterilization and mechanical prevention. My genetics are strong and many traits I possess are desirable traits, knowing that I can help a couple in need is all the motivation I need to donate and unlike eggs semen re…

If you don't want kids and she does, no amount of compromise is going to fix that situation. Children are not something you 'compromise on'. In your above situation it is fairly evident that the man should leave that situation, it does a great disservice to the children to tell them when they grow up 'your mother talked me into it'. I understand you are all for communication in a relationship. I however am a HUGE proponent of actually courting and dating and learning about someone before you tak…

If you wanted a vasectomy your wife has absolutely NO SAY. Do not mistake me though, open communication is great. I am glad you and your wife can and do talk about these things, but there should be no legal precedent guiding these decisions. You, and only you are the final arbiter of any decision related to your body. When decisions about anothers body can be made on behalf of that individual, the waters become exceptionally grey. Using your analogy in which decisions in a relationship must be s…

I disagree, bodily autonomy should always be 100% retained. Marriage should be about forging a path together in life, decisions that effect your finances, your families and your future absolutely need to be discussed. Donating genetic reproductive materials is NOT a marital decision, like donating blood, or organs, and the like. A sperm donor should be viewed only as what it is, a means to an end. People who view it as any more than that are complicating something that does not need to be compli…

Being a surrogate and being a sperm donor are not even close to equivalent. A better comparison would be a woman being an egg donor. I can't imagine anyone in their right mind opposing donating to help people who need it. Should BLOOD become a marital asset? Since you save that child with a blood transfusion will he come knocking at your door demanding to be part of your life!? Being a surrogate is entirely different, a husband would have to tolerate his wife's increased food consumption, reduce…

You know what disgusts me about you 'feminists' is that you claim that 1 in 5 women will be sexually assaulted, this number being derived from reported and unreported and projected numbers. Then when it comes around to False Rape numbers it's only 3% of all reports, where is the projected, the unreported, the unproven. You are more than willing to skew stats in your favor, but 'oh no, what about the wimminz' if the numbers for the opposing side could be favorable.

As someone who has been falsely accused of rape I give you words of advice: Do not under any circumstances trust these 'friends' people are very two-faced in these ordeals. If they help you and you lose, then they have the stigma floating around that they were trying to assist a rapist. Most of them will say whatever they want to placate you, make you think it's alright or maybe even try to increase the level of friendship in hopes that you confide the 'truth' to them so that they can use it how…

I did not hear about that incident. York University has been having trouble containing an individual who has been approaching women and 'assaulting' them (it doesn't explicitly say what the attacks are, so it could be pats on the butt or preventing them from leaving forcibly or it could even be bumping into them by accident, York likes to rile people up). I don't know what it is about campus in the summer, but McGill has been having problems and I am sure many other campuses are as well.

I think it depends entirely on the circumstances. This situation actually comes up a lot for me and I find that most women whom aren't completely intoxicated get offended if you ask them to sign a document stating that consent was given and usually completely ruins the mood, which is sometimes alright, don't stick your dick in crazy after all. Instead I use a novel approach. If I am propositioned by a woman for intercourse and I have even a slight doubt about her ability to give consent I will a…

Your mixing two women up, Sarah Jane Lindsay was the individual accused of having sexual relations with boys 14 and younger. Audrey Grabarkiewicz on the other hand was sleeping with boys 16 years or older, the age of consent in South Carolina (or at least it could not be proven in a court of law that she did sleep with boys under 16 years of age).
/r/MensRights02/07/12 09:39 PM
7

Given what the article says about Grabarkiewicz, I would like to know if men in S.C. were charged in a court of law for sleeping with a 16 year old female, apparently the AoC in S.C. If so than this is a grievous non-application of justice. Otherwise, while her actions are certainly lacking much moral character, if she didn't break any sex crime laws, what would you have the courts do?
/r/MensRights02/07/12 09:30 PM

Indeed. However I feel that a vast majority of constructive discussion will be lost because it is becoming exceedingly clear this individual had a separate agenda. Thus, potentially resulting in the total derailment of anything useful (and perhaps bring out the trolls as well), which brings any utility of the subject further away from a state of value.
