She's going to have to bring the kids backHere with you. Going through a divorce and quitting alcohol felt like a situation made for disaster. But, it's turned out to be a great confidence boost. If I can get through this sober, most other things will be a piece of cake. What helped me is attending some AA meetings and hearing -- surprise surprise -- just how common addition+divorce is and how people have rebounded into a happier life by keeping their sobriety a priority. Anecdotally, it seems that men are usually divorced in these circ… | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/08/26 12:10 PM
That might be it with my kidshey. this is happening to me too. It felt very humiliating at first. But I decided that if I had to eat shit, I would do it with a smile. Note there was never a allegation of abuse, my wife was afraid something might happen which makes the restrictions even more humiliating and unfair. Yeah some days I do think about saying fuck it, they can reach out when they are older if they care. What helped me eat shit with a smile was to think of things this way: What is happening between me and my wife s… | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/08/26 10:54 PM
Anyone willing to admit they actually regret leaving?I regret what was lost. But I don't want it back. I'm in a much healthier mental space since then. | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/04/26 12:55 AM
About a month into separation and I think I’m good with splitting.I'm in the same boat. This whole thing has brought out a side of her I don't recognize and don't think I will be able to forget. In some ways it's a gift -- makes moving on much easier. feel free to DM if you want to chat. | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/04/26 07:02 PM
Any post divorce success stories?I'm currently in separation and in the same age range with 2 kids, but these things are very much on the horizon. Huge income disparity + long marriage means that I will def be getting a haircut financially. The way I'm dealing with it is to compartmentalize this aspect into specific time-period/days so I can use the rest of my energy on things that will help me transition as this pans out. I'd also love to hear from others who've made it to the other side. But, maybe those people aren't visitin… | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/04/26 06:15 PM
Confusion and painyou cant spend your time guessing about their motives. you already said you don't see any avenues back, so focus on yourself. anything else will just leads to extending this confusion/pain. | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/04/26 10:39 AM
Just need to put this out thereDon't do it. When we separated, I went to a hotel and got massively drunk for a week. It helped with nothing and made things worse. Accept that you will have to go through this hurt -- numbing it wont make it go away. So, the earlier you start rebuilding, the better your life will be. good luck. note: staying physically active especially outside helps me massively. I've had a super busy few days which meant I had to cut down on that and I already feel my mental health taking a hit. | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/04/26 01:20 PM
Advice Pleasehate to say this, but that's what my therapist said about my situation "Are you sure you told me everything? This seems pretty extreme for the situation" ah well. | /r/Divorce_Men | 31/03/26 07:28 PM
Advice Pleaseyeeesh. "and my wife knowing about them and choosing not to do anything. " seems important because that's what's happening to me too: she is bringing up conversations from before I got on my medication(1+ years ago) to now push for ppo. And, this came to head because she told me to leave the house and I said she should instead. She did, but came back with cops. Sadly though, talking to my lawyer, it's fairly common for one spouse to use a ppo to gain leverage during divorce. I wish I had advice … | /r/Divorce_Men | 31/03/26 12:02 PM
Advice Pleasenone. I think I am 1 month behind you. I am worried about the hearing. There was never any physical violence -- but there was verbal abuse. How were you able to get found not guilty? | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/03/26 11:32 PM

Trauma of failed marriage (20 years)I have a hard time with therapists. But, chatgpt has been super helpful for me to build strategies to move on. just know that unless prompted specifically, it will lean towards agreeing with you -- so if you frame questions on "this was unfair" it will keep you stuck there. I had to specify that my main goals were to 1/ move on from this by building myself to be someone who could do that, and 2/ build an identity and life that is true to me. | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/03/26 04:00 AM
Trauma of failed marriage (20 years)here's what happened to me: my wife said I need to move out because she prefers it. I said that wouldn't look good in a divorce for me. She kept saying I should leave and that's the best thing, voices were raised. I yelled I wasn't leaving. That was her cue to start recording me. She said I should stop yelling. I yelled I wasn't yelling and If she didn't want to stay she could leave. And actually she should leave right then. She left straight to get a protective order against me to kick me out o… | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/03/26 03:49 AM

Trauma of failed marriage (20 years)Going through basically the exact thing right now. It's eerie how much this rhymes. I'm also trying to rebuild but it's difficult after so much of life being intertwined. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/03/26 02:12 PM
