Yep, white women never benefited from racism and slavery, no way not no-how. And they definitely never supported it either. Nope, that was all the scary boogey boogey white man

I'm talking about the whole theory about toxic masculinity that women are trying to shove down our throats these days. It's where some of the kind of sentiments that are shared in OP's picture come from.

There are some pretty decent posts there. You gotta take the good with the bad. But there's a lot less anger there than here, and some pretty intelligent people commenting.

the feelings that drive some men to abuse should be our business. That's the thing though, that you and many other people believe this is true. That somehow if men become more emotional and open they will be "fixed." There's no scientific basis for that claim. It's just women meddling with the emotions of men with some kind of coked up theoretical justification for why it's supposedly okay and necessary. Again, the feelings of men are none of your business. You're just objectifying male vulnerab…

You can freeze and fuck off in this very sub. No need to get nasty. Let's agree to disagree.

I think people feel a bit patronized because of the whole way you talk about masculinity and male emotions. The notion is that this is the greatest problem men and the gist of it is that it's supposedly the root cause of misogyny, rape, abuse, etc. While it's something that needs to be talked about, that discussion needs to come entirely from men. In short, the emotions of men are not really any of your business. That's why people are getting defensive. Women always want to undress and objectify…

And we need feminists to focus on issues that specifically impact on women. We need an LGBT movement to concentrate on the issues surrounding sexual orientation and gender. We need anti-racists to tackle racism. Definitely, and we need MRA to look after men's issues. For some reason that makes people really really angry.

You ought to chill, and keep chilling until women have the same rights as men in India.

The world have moved on, feminism was required at a time and it did it job. Now, it is time for feminism to move over. See the thing is though, that never happened in India. When I was there there was a 3 year old girl begging in the train station. You guys have A LOT of ground to cover before you're ready to say that feminism isn't required. Feminism is still needed in the west. Obviously not the clickbaity "all men are pigs" kind of feminism that we hate around here, but feminism that gives wo…

No one needs feminism which already showed it's dirty head. There is no good feminism, only one sided dirty politics. Goes to show just how ignorant you are. The good kind of feminism gave women the right to vote, the right to work, and the same legal rights as men. India currently needs a hefty dose of that, among other things.

Jesus, please keep this Indian stuff out of mensrights. When women in general in India get the right to choose who they will marry I'll start to listen. India is a country that actually needs feminism at this point (the good kind)

I swear, the lure of feeling powerful draws so many nerds into things like this. I'll bet the guy who put this in place feels like such a big man.

How can a group that is so familiar with the implications and power of gendered language think that this is not purposeful? Nail on the head

Typical examples include the guy who treats his girlfriend like crap when his friends are around (to prove that he's in charge and not whipped) This is such a stereotype. Is the guys name "Chad" by any chance?

Actually great men just think of women as people and don't put any specific value on them. to break free from toxic notions of masculinity and learn about our true selves I just fucking love it when women femsplain masculinity.

Hah, just keep watering down that word. I'm sure women in countries where they can't even work at all would love to hear why this is sexism.

Afterwards the army made it clear that no-one should be forced to bath naked in front of others, neither men nor women. Why on earth not? Isn't the entire point of the army to prepare you for what life on a front line could be like? If you're wet, cold and need to clean yourself, are you really going to sacrifice warm dry underwear so the guys won't see you? Do you think her first experience bathing naked should be in a war-situation? It's bloody ridiculous. She has no business being in the army…

Reactionaries. There are some parts of the MRM which are reactionary, angry and bitter, but a lot of people out there want to silence all the progressive parts of MRM as well.

There was a case recently where a Norwegian female conscript complained in the media because she had to cross a frozen river naked, just like all the male conscripts. Apparently it was sexual harassment or some other bs. No, I'm not even kidding. I'm all for gender equal conscription so long as it doesn't mean a weaker military or that women in the military get special treatment and all the cushy jobs while the men sacrifice themselves and die.

It's like when Lena Dunham revealed that she molested her sister. Everyone was like "lol" and that was the end of it. Had it been a guy doing stuff like that to his younger sister he would have lost his job, his friends, his reputation, etc

She's just helping us along. About as good for MRM as the feminists who like to interrupt lectures. Sane rational people will choose the side that seems sane and rational. For every 50 people who view her blog, odds are we get one or two new subscribers.

It's about making it acceptable for men to cry about cutesy things that make me go "awwww"* *Disclaimer: vulnerability must be carefully balanced with masculine traits. At no point must it seem like he is more vulnerable than I am. Crying must be restricted to topics that don't make me as a woman look bad or require me to take on any kind of real responsibility for his emotional state

It's totally true. The other day I watched a NatGeo program about Russian prisons. You had this old hard as fuck Russian guy who travelled all the way from Moscow to Siberia to visit his son who was in prison. Afterwards he cried on camera.

Alright. Well it's an interesting hypothesis I guess. I'll take it with a grain of salt until someone releases a proper study. You should pitch it to a researcher.

You're being really defeatist. If the end goal was to get everyone to feel the same way about men as they do about women, that's not going to happen. The point is to create an environment where male issues can be addressed and tended to, regardless of any hysterical kicking and screaming people drum up. We don't need women and men to love men, we need for it to be socially acceptable to publicly tell someone they are an idiot if they diminish female on male violence for example. Or to be able to…

To be fair, to some degree we're also programmed to be racist but that can be overturned with learning and empathy.

It's cool that you're interested. In terms of what the MRM can offer you, you're liable to get a stronger prison sentence than a woman for the same crime. If a woman attacks you and assaults you physically it can be hard for you to be taken seriously. If a woman rapes you nobody will really care. I'm sure there's an extra element of trauma for that to gay people. A lot of people would like you to just shut up and not talk about any of those issues, on the pretence that they are "being worked on"…

Ugh, I've been there. One day I accidentally manspreaded on the bus on the way to work, and not 2 hours later I was calling our junior manager "doll" and asked her when she was going to quit this silly working business and find a husband.

Just be yourself and don't force any gender roles on him. That includes your own wishy-washy views on gender. He just needs clear boundaries and support, not a freaking therapist. Look into introducing some kind of male role model into his life. Could be a friend, uncle, whatever.

The point of this strategy is to shame men who buy sex. Experience in Scandinavia has shown that it does absolutely nothing to help the prostitutes, as it makes sex work more hidden, seeing as how the customers have much more fear of being caught. It's a way for angry bitter old women to get their rocks off sticking it to men who could be their own husbands. If they wanted to help prostitutes they would legalize it and regulate it, so that they could have access to social services, medicine and …

The messed up thing is that it would be such a minute fucking effort to place female-on-male rape on the same level as male-on-female rape. We're not asking for much.

You talk about bad science and then you toss this out totally unsourced: what moronic feminists (and women in general have a greater tendency to do more than men) is to think their perception or reaction influences reality on areas or issues where it clearly does not. And then you back it up with anecdotal evidence: Time and time again i have seen women chasing accreditation over some nonsense like Reikie healing or homeopathy or some other nonsense, and they simply think "provided i do the work…

most male problems are caused by other men Tell me how men are responsible if a man gets abused by his wife. I know, what a crazy notion, a strong man being abused by a weak little woman! /s It very much has to do with race and class, and nothing to do with feminism. Much as I'm sure you'd like it, you can't just erase gender like that. For reference, please see the last 60 or so years of academic feminist literature. I actually think a lot of it is really good.
