Of course, some women lie about being assaulted. I never denied that. People lie in other types of crimes, as well. Sadly it happens. But so many more women don't report being assaulted because they know they won't be believed. And really, it doesn't seem like the system as a whole target's men when there is lack of support/evidence...when that does happen though, it's fucked up - you're certainly right. But men have rights, we all have rights. Yes, it's when these rights aren't exercised that I…

girlwriteswhat above sums this up great. How it is a positive thing to always believe a person, yet how the legal system is designed to protect everyone involved (obviously, including the accused person) so that no charges are brought forth until evidence is presented though a thorough investigation. Which basically means that she doesn't really have any legal ability to ruin someones life simply based on heresay. If this person does turn out to be lying though, then shame on them for causing th…

I did. It get's really tiring trying to explain a point over and over only to be shot down as an illogical feminist. The guys gotta stick together here in r/mensrights though, so there's no use in even trying to have a real discussion, as outside opinions are clearly just frowned upon.

so what? i corrected myself. you were right, i shouldn't have used that word as a generalization on numbers..how about not joining in on the ganging up of me, you know, one of the only people that decided to give a very different viewpoint then all the (i assume) guys in this thread. The only thing browsing on r/mens rights for the first time has triggered is really just wondering what it's like to be able say (and get up voted) that it's okay to not believe women who say they are raped, because…

No, it just means believing someone. If they are shown to be lying during an investigation down the line, then that is something that will come to light and that person will get in trouble for lying to the police. Wow was my point that we should believe people first, who come asking for help, really that difficult of a concept for r/mensrights to grasp? Guess so. Yea i'm done with this BS.

I didn't do a poor job at explaining myself (people understood my reference, and I did make my point very clear quite a few times following that). If anything I was at first trying to divert the attention away from your ignorant statement that rape culture doesn't exist, and that it's dangerous to believe rape victims when they come looking for help because it means that the claims of rape victims are taken at face value to be the absolute truth ...Yea, that's exactly what believing rape victims…

Perhaps using the 'john smith' thing wasn't the best example. But my points were taken entirely out of context and everyone here went on the defense implying that I don't believe in an equal justice system, that innocent men will get put behind bars for life, etc when I started to answer the OP's question pretty clearly. Which is, that you can put believing the accuser as an entierly seprate thing from how you treat the accused...and just to add, if you honestly think that victim guilting and bl…

It's so true. It is really interesting that most people here weren't able to distance one issue from the other in order to see my point...and of course I keep getting massively downvoted for trying to express a valid point as well...whatever. of course I don't believe that every man (or woman) accused of rape is a rapist, I would never want to see any innocent person have to stand a trial or be behind bars... and I understand that a man who comes forth with stab wounds as opposed to a person tha…

Yes, thank you. It seems people just didn't want to listen to what I was saying...but yes, that's all I was trying to say, but was of course was immediately attacked instead because it was taken as 'well then you support reputations being ruined and innocent people going behing bars.' Believing someone, and how you treat the accused, can be taken as seprate issues.

did you not read what i said? believing a person does not mean that you believe the accused, or that anyone is automatically guilty ...and likewise, putting a person on trail does not mean that the accused person is gulty. There can be shame that goes along with rape victims coming forward because it can be very difficult to prove a rape, and because of the fear that people will call them liars. The question he asked was 'why is not believing the accuser mean that you believe the accused?' And I…

I was responding to 'col0rado' about rape culture and victim blaming. And actually, yes, I would imagine that Police, and victims units that specifically work with rape victims, would have a more lethargic attitude and difficult time investigating a claim if they had no belief in the victim...It's not about being biased towards one particular view or claim - my point was trying to lean towards a middle ground, that believing a person does not mean that you believe the accused, or that anyone is …

Um, no, "rape culture' is not "nonsense". Personally I think it's fucked up because if you don't believe the accuser then they can't get proper treatment which will put this person at a dissadvantge in the long run. Which doesn't necessarily tie in with automatically "believing the accused." Even if you have doubts, generally believing someone that says they were raped (or is a victim of any other crime) is a very important first step... Think about it this way, if someone walks into an emergenc…

No it's not. Weather you want to accept it or not we live in a country that supports rape culture, which means that more people get away with rape than many other crimes. If someone is on trial for for robbing a bank, things will more likely be looked at with hard criminal evidence and a logical stand point. Now, if a woman brings a trial to court for being raped, she will be put on the stand and be accused of being drunk, being promiscuous, "wanting it" (even when there is hard evidence, semen …

Considering 95% of rape cases that HAVE hard evidence are still thrown out of court (i.e recent NYPD rape case); if there is NO evidence it would be next to impossible to convict just because a girl "was angry"...just take into account everything that is used to convict a person: witnesses, lie detectors, semen samples, etc...and even with this evidence cases are usually thrown out of court because she was accused of being a slut, or he was able to afford a good lawyer, whatever...trust me, wome…

As sad as false accusations are that happen, I think it shifts away from the real issue here, which is that 1/6 women experience REAL rape. And it's disappointing to women to see that you guys care more about focusing on the much smaller percentage of men that are falsely accused. That's why rape happens so much, because there is no movement of men standing up and saying that 'rape is not funny, rape is never excusable, rape has no grey areas, rape knows no color, class, or age, and finally, tha…

men can get screened for STD's, receive counseling, get free or reduced priced contraceptives, and have free screening for prostate cancer at PP. although the majority of people that go to planned parenthood are women (as women are the ones that have to deal with pregnancy and it's consequence more than guys); Planned Parenthood is NOT a "woman's clinic" lets just get that straight first. Women need to take responsibility and "cough up the dough", huh? You know what the best part about having an…

It's more than likely because you have more years of work experience under your belt and would have commanded more money. For something like this it would help you to probably shorten your resume (i.e take away a few jobs and titles); they probably just wanted someone they could pay an entry-level salary and would hang around there for a while.
