I have done, and all evidence i've seen points to increased quality of life compared to pre-transition. If you have a reliable source for your claims i'd like to see it though.
/r/MensRights25/03/15 11:08 PM

Studies have proven the best thing for transgendered people to do to prevent suicide is not transition and to accept the sex they were born with. That's interesting, cause i've never seen a study proving reparative therapy to be effective, while the medical consensus in the west is that such an approach does not work. So if you're not just pulling that out your ass as i suspect then i'd like to see these studies you mention.

By "us " I meant trans people.
/r/MensRights22/03/15 02:36 PM

In my experience most of us are feminists or at least inclined that way, so ironically we're likely to not be very accepted in trans communities just for being an MRA or even daring to think women aren't a uniquely oppressed underclass. But then I guess MRAs aren't particularly accepted anywhere anyway. On the other hand posting here i've gotten shit about trans stuff. Can't win :)

Who decides that “Maleness” is defined by willingness to sacrifice? Withholding of emotions? Feigned indifference to pain(emotional or otherwise)? A Feminist might argue that it’s “Patriarchy,” I consider it a symptom of the society we live in, we construct that Gender Identity and then re-enforce it, often to the detriment of both men and women. I agree with you but I think that also it's possible there are biological components to things like this we deem as socially constructed. For example, …

Feminists do not want people to falsely attribute things to the patriarchy. The blaming of issues which have nothing to do with the patriarchy on the patriarchy is part of the patriarchy. The patriarchy hurts patriarchies too.

So do you have a problem with adoption? Because every mother already has the right to opt out of motherhood. Edit: Reading your other comments it seems you are totally fine with adoption. So basically: Woman wants to opt out of parenthood? Totally fine. 100% her choice Man wants to opt out of parenthood? NOPE, you had sex, so prepare to pay child support for 18 years even though you never wanted the child

No, she is solely responsible for giving it life, because she is the only one who can choose to NOT give it life. The man has no say in her body, and so she has 100% responsibility for choosing to bring it into the world.

No, both the man and woman "made" it. But ONLY the woman can choose to HAVE it. If sex was consent to have a child, women shouldn't be able to have an abortion or give it up for adoption. Since they DO have those rights, it's clear that sex is NOT consent to have a child. You are arguing that women should have that right, and men should not.

Well firstly it's kind of an awkward phrase. Secondly, it's a bit ambiguous in regards to sex and gender, the same word is used twice and can be defined pretty differently by different people. Thirdly, cis is already a phrase, and it's accurate, simple and concise.

Have you seen me? No. I actually started hormone therapy at the onset of puberty. There's honestly no way you would clock me. Sorry if that makes you uncomfortable. I'm done replying to you, you're just pretending to be retarded at this point.

Check the chromosomes. And what about chromosomal disorders? Honestly, you really don't know what you're talking about. It seems you couldn't possibly attempt to begin to entertain the possibility that someone's identity could be the same as that of the opposite sex. Even though you have no knowledge of their identity. Even though there is evidence for genetic/prenatal causes for this happening. No, no. It just couldn't possibly happen.

Alright, so gender identity disorder doesn't actually exist, despite all the evidence to the contrary. All those academics, and organizations, and the research done, are just wrong. Because you say so. You learn something new every day.

Alright, so if you're biologically male, even if you identify as a female 100%, that is, think the same as a female, feel like a female, "know" you are a female (in the same way you know you are a male), then that person's gender identity is still male? Since the person's identity is for all intents and purposes exactly the same as a female identity, then why call it male? This brings up the question, what are people with intersex conditions? Can they be neither male or female?

In the context of calling you cisgendered, that is simply what it means. A man being a man as you put it. "a man being a man" is also a label. What is the problem when these terms are exactly equivalent when used to refer to you?
/r/MensRights21/01/13 11:31 PM

Exactly, it really isn't very complicated. It's actually extremely simple which is why i'm having a hard time understanding why you're having a problem with it. Cis basically = you aren't transgendered. What is the problem with people saying you're not transgendered? You aren't are you? If no, then it's simply a statement of fact.

Call me "him" and i'd respect your right to call me whatever you like. Then i'd see if you were up for a discussion on why it might not be such a bad thing to use those pronouns. Us nasty controlling transgendered eh? Actually, the more likely situation is that you would never call me "him", because your decision of which way to gender a new person you meet is based on how they look, act and talk - not their chromosomes. (unless you happen to go around groping people's genitals or testing their …

No transgender person with a working brain will seriously deny that it's impossible to change your body to that of the other biological sex. What you can do is change your body to more closely resemble that sex. A transwoman is already mentally female, it's not something that they have to become, so i'm not sure what you're thinking the "something they'll never be" is.

I'm not trying to control the behaviour and expression of others. What do you mean by that? How are transpeople trying to do that? If you're saying this is what the word "cis" is, well, I think you may be confusing the kind of social justice-y tumblr users who would try and silence someone based on such a thing - with transgendered people. And I would also imagine that you either don't know what the word means, or choose to conflate it with those assholes.

The problem is that as I have pointed out above, gender and physiology are linked, even in people who are trans-gendered they are trans-gendered because they are physiologically different they did not choose to be trans-gendered, they just are. When someone says that someone is cis-gendered their saying more than their just a male bodied male or a female bodied female, their saying that gender is separate from physiology, that for instance I as a man have chosen to be masculine and that if I wan…

It's not a contradiction, as tranny isn't used to simply mean "transgender", it's undeniably an intentionally derogatory term. 80-90% of the time I've seen "cis" be used, it was meant as an insult or in the context of pointing out "privilege". I don't see how it could be insulting, even if it's meant as one. "ha ha, you're normal and don't have to deal with being trans". How is that going to be offensive? I've never once seen cis used as an insult in my time browsing various trans places online.…

I don't see why someone would be offended at the use of the term "cis". It's simply the opposite of "trans". It basically means, "not transgender" or "gender-normative". What's offensive about someone saying that someone's gender identity is the same as their sex? On the other hand tranny tends to be used as a derogatory term. Just nitpicking here, agree with the rest of your post.

These "dumbass radical tumblr crazies" (yay ableism) are all committing the horrifying crime of recognising that seperate gender identities exist and calling out cis people on their cis privilege! What terrible people, they're breaking the cis circlejerk! Except that that's not who i'm talking about. Talking about privileges is fine. No one is saying they're not. separate gender identities are fine. what is not fine, what is ridiculous, is the worldviews that some of the people hold. the implica…
/r/MensRights30/12/12 11:19 PM

By putting in ridiculous terms next to terms actually used by people, you make the actual terms look ridiculous, or at least say that you consider "genderqueer" on par with "heteromollusc". No it doesn't. If I say "human rights" and "flimbledingle" in the same sentence or piece of writing, does that mean i'm making human rights look ridiculous, or think these things are on par? Context matters. The context in which "genderqueer" appears in the post really says nothing about whether they think it…
/r/MensRights30/12/12 10:38 PM

Except it isn't just "It is the future. there is a person with alternative gender identity. this is hilarious" It's taking some of the ridiculous worldviews of the radical feminist and tumblr "check your privilege" crowd and creating a narrative as ridiculous as possible (see "LBJQGTA5" "Transsensual angst profile ZETA-8" "reformed lesbiophilic heteromollusc") These words don't really have any meaning, they are just cramming in as many terms as possible, building a narrative of a dystopia where …

haha "are women obligated to do anything?", where "yes" is the wrong answer. I agree, women shouldn't have to pay taxes or not murder anyone or anything like that.

Men are likely to accumulate more wealth because of their choices in life. The person gives no evidence to the claim that this causes women to have "super duper oppressed" status. I wouldn't bother refuting it because this person's qualifier for even considering to watch a video is that women must own more wealth than men. That is just absurd and I would not expect them to concede to a rational refutation.
/r/MensRights08/12/12 07:35 AM

I agree with you. I don't think you would be wrong to reveal the identity of these people. The concern i'm hearing is that this will be characterized as some act of extreme hate and misogyny by feminists and used to further demonize the MRM, and that you should refrain from such tactics as not to "dirty the image" of the MRM in the public eye. It likely will be characterized like that. And i'm not sure how badly it will affect the image of MRA. But i'm not opposed to it being done.

I think what you are doing is confusing "your" feminism with the socially accepted form of feminism. Yes, your form of feminism is for equality, I understand that. But your form of feminism isn't the one lobbying for discrimination written into law. The socially accepted mainstream feminism which has caused and continues to cause massive injustices. Personally, if I were in your position, I would distance myself from the label entirely.

Isn't there something wrong with seeing that kind of gross power imbalance repeated so often? Where is the power imbalance if both actors consensually enter into the act and either can stop it?

Inform him of the damage that will be caused to your son. The commonly practiced genital mutilation of boys removes important parts of the male sexual organ. The procedure (in almost ALL cases) holds absolutely no medical value, and also carries the risks that come with surgery. If he still wishes to mutilate his child while being aware of these things, well, I would ask how I ended up with such a person. Other than that, maybe you could convince him with the argument to let him grow up first - …
