This post is a good litmus test to see whether or not someone is based in reality

Does that mean you agree with me? I don't know what you're responding to. Every individual woman can be disinterested in 90% of people in their same socioeconomic background and still marry in their same socioeconomic background.

Women almost never shame other women when it comes to dating LOL

Anyone saying dating someone taller is hypergamy has completely lost the plot

The argument is that men are fine with both dating and having relationships with most women of the same background/income level/attractiveness percentile/whatever. But that’s not true of women on average, they don’t want to date most men from their same area of life.

I can tell you were really eager to throw out the first talking point that came to mind when you saw “date” and “relationship” but I encourage you to actually read what I said and what I’m responding to

Women aren’t a monolith Replace date with “have a relationship with” the way it’s actually stated and the two aren’t even contradictory

Excluding any potential age gap issues that might arise... yes? For me the characteristics that make people good friends also make them good relationship partners.

You could be right, but if so you should do it without misrepresenting statistics.

70% of men have had sex in the last year (or really the year before the first study was conducted). 50% of men weren't looking to date at the time this study was conducted. There's no (honest) way to combine these two statistics on their own. You're looking for the percentage of men who weren't looking to date in the year before the first study was conducted.

I don't see how you just draw this conclusion out of nowhere. The sexless stat is referencing men who hadn't had sex in the last year and the looking to date stat is talking about right now. There's no evidence that anyone is having sex without looking to date. edit: hadn't had sex since turning 18 -> hadn't had sex in the last year

At least if you randomly assume that every one of the sexless 30% aren’t looking.

You’re absolutely right that this is an example of feminist hypocrisy, but if you say that to a self-proclaimed feminist they’ll just ignore it. I’ve found that the best way to do it is to say that you’re actually a feminist and that’s why you want to solve mens’ issues. It helps to throw in the words “privilege” and “equality” a bit too.

The very idea that forgoing sex for a theoretical special someone in the future is a respectable thing to do contributes to the pointless stigma around sex that women (and especially sex workers) always have to deal with. There's no reason to treat sex as anything more than two people having fun (and sometimes not even that), because that's all it is.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
