I don't have any advice other than to keep being supportive as you already have been. You can't fix this situation. Just hear him out and be a voice of reason when appropriate. Encourage him to go after what he is entitled to. People who come from situations like his will give up what is theirs to avoid confrontation. He's used to being used, told how it's going to be, and simply accepting that outcome. Having someone who has your back and believes in you is a gift.

I found a lot of relief in living a day to day life. I spent a large majority of my life up until my divorce living in in a long term mindset. When the long term derailed and life became a big open unknown, I was not equipped to deal with it. It was difficult to adapt. To find a way to be in the moment. To live for the day.. But I can say that the adjustment was worth it. If it's a bad day, oh well there's always room to make tomorrow better. It's far easier to process than feeling as if life it…

I'd suggest 6 inch lag bolts for that sex swing then.

Report the business she's working for to the IRS. She'll either end up on payroll or a 1099. Then use that to prove income.

Coping with the idea that your retirement plans are shot and you may die at a desk. That one would help me right now.

Ex called them "marriage goggles" and I was not buying any of it. I believe it now. I think we just see what we want to see sometimes. Yeah, my wife has a BMI of 35 and has never accomplished anything other than creating children, but she's a solid 10? Seems incredible now, but 5 years ago I was a believer.

I've never heard of this but I can tell you a quick Google search seems to imply this isn't accurate. Im not saying me and some googling knows more than your attorney but Id suggest you do your due diligence and check into that.

Having a contentious ex-wife who has a cop boyfriend sounds like the ultimate nightmare.

I work in a lucrative career and had/have enough income to maintain two households. Not comfortably, and my financial quality of life was greatly reduced. I did as much as I could with them from adventures to the park, movies, zoos, boat trips. I embraced the newly found autonomy of planning outings. The ex handled those things, the schedule was fully packed, and I had no chance of being anything other than the wallet and NPC along for the trip. Happier? Yes, my happiness has improved greatly. I…

The first year of holidays hits hardest man. Especially the big ones like Christmas. Everyone is always saying how it takes time. I didn't think those rules applied to me and that it would never get any easier. But it did.

These things have a tendency to start out amicable. But based on my time here in this sub, it seems to rarely stay that way. Someone is going to feel things aren't fair, and quickly there will be another lawyer involved. I'm not saying it can not work out as you're planning, but I would prepare myself mentally for the plan to fall apart. You had a very long marriage with a stay at home mom in California. Honestly, I'd suggest you seek your own attorney.

Do you own this house? Get him out of there before it becomes his residence. If it is now his legal residence, evict the bum.

Will this be a simple agreement between you two, or do you intend for it to be written in the divorce decree?

That mentality got me through the roughest of times. I've slowly sort of slipped back into my old brooding ways. Wallowing in my thoughts of "if only I had done this differently or that differently." Then, surely I would be better now, right? What a fine waste of emotional energy. I needed to hear this today OP. Thanks.

Good luck brother! I really hope you get a fair judgement. Just be aware that they could argue that you've established status quo. That's how they got me..

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
