Seriously? If a newbie guide to diet recommended estimating grams of leucine in your meals, I'd tell the OP to go fuck himself. Yes, there is evidence of leucine activating muscle protein synthesis, but you're mistaking an indirect hypothesis for daily requirements for research. The well-known optimal protein requirements come from many isotope-tracked muscle biopsy studies. Norton's leucine math is an indirect, while a biopsy-based dose-response is a very direct measurement of how much protein …

For hypertrophy, volume is BY FAR the dominating factor, as long as intensity is >65% of 1RM, which 8-12 moderately hard reps covers. This is pretty unequivocal in research surveys, and among bodybuilders. HIT died with Mentzer. For strength, sure, intensity is more important, as long as volume is high enough. But that's specifically not what OP posted about here. Strength training for hypertrophy is like walking upright in a swim race -- sure, you'll get there, eventually.

Did you get this from Tudor Bompa's Periodization textbook? Bit of a headache-inducing read, but it says the exact same things. The only thing I don't agree with is that the SRA curves for heavy overhead pressing and hamstrings (like DLs) are a lot longer than you say. On everything else, you're spot on. I'm sorry you wasted this post on idiots who can't tell bro science from actual science.
