I am not blaming anyone for anything. Where are you coming up with this? I am correcting a post that blamed republicans for the draft when it simply is not true. Also FWIW We were not in WWII when Roosevelt invoked the draft. On the drafting females issue, we never had any disagreement on this at all - zero. It seems like I pointed out one incorrect statement and you have taken this to believe we totally disagree on all points. This could not be further from the truth.

You probably think Reagan started draft registration don't you? He did not, he reinstated it. FDR (a democrat) had draft registration ramping up for WWII starting in 1940. Woodrow Wilson (also a democrat) did the same in WWI. Link for those interested We also had drafts all the way back to the civil war, but unlike WWI and forward, I could not find anything on "registering" for it.

Fossil collecting. I'm outside, hiking is big part of it, so it is a healthy hobby. Also ridiculously cheap. A rock hammer, eye protection, a chisel and a good pair of hiking boots is all you need. I'll throw in sunscreen too. But damn did my ex hate it when I went fossil hunting, damn near as bad as fishing.

Nope. Older edditor here (63). I had one GF I really, really liked way back in 1990. She said she was a feminist. When I pointed out all the things feminists actually stand for (before the internet was much of a thing) I used books and newspaper clippings to point this out. After a couple of months I actually changed her mind. That said, things did not work long term for other reasons, and I never tried it again.

A lot of younger men are bypassing college to go directly to a skilled trade. In my area there is a severe shortage of welders, pipefitters, metal workers, etc.in the shipbuilding and aerospace industries. We are importing these workers from South America and Europe right now, many at close to or even over 6 figures. If a young man goes to trade school, and is serous about it, he can be and making $70k a year before the feminists have their masters degrees. And he won't be saddled with a mountai…

The truth is pretty much the opposite of what society, and media pushes on NEARLY EVERY issue. Not just male and female dynamics. Politics, social issues, all of it. Agreed. Earlier today I shared a political post that went against the grain, complete with citations of data, links and downloads from the US Dept of Education that fully supported my position. Still got downvoted.

Still not the apocalypse they made it out to be. Huge segments of our economy ground to a halt for this. The health sector was overwhelmed for a while. We had a grand total of 10 new cases in the entire state yesterday, and no deaths (of course AL only has 4 million people). But I'll get the vaccine when I can (I'm too young yet).

That's what I heard. I'll still wear mine when I go to Publix, Dollar General, Home Depot, etc. I don't really eat out much so that's a non-issue. I never did wear them outdoors.

I didn't say the lockdown ended. There are still restrictions - masks, social distancing, limited number of people at a venue, etc. But Southern AL to answer your question. We have had exactly 300 deaths out of ~270,000 people (.11%) vs the current USA total of .17% deaths. This is why people question the shutdown to begin with. It just isn't as big a deal as they made it out to be. I'm all for masks but I'm not for shutting down huge chunks of the economy.

Assault is the threat to carry out physical attack with the present, apparent ability to carry out such threat. This means if me, a 6'4" 260 lb threatened to kick your ass, it's assault. If my 90 yo, 102 lb grandmother did the same, it probably isn't assault.

Thx man. I'm just glad she was so open about being a bitch or I would have wasted money on her (I was ready to take her out). I made it a point from then on out to always drive my Corolla. The Corolla was a great, frugal commuter car. My GMC was my weekend beach/mountains/off road fun car. And the Firebird - well it was (and is) a Firebird. Never tip your financial status to your date/prospects was the lesson I learned here.

Older redditor here. I got set up on a blind meet up with a girl about 25 years ago (I wouldn't call it a date). Her girlfriends were my friends from business and they were my wing-women. We had fun drinking and dancing, and at the end of the night, I walked her to her car and asked if I could take her on a real date. Her first question was "what do you drive?". I actually had 3 cars, my cheap ass Toyota Corolla (which I drove that night), a GMC Jimmy SUV, and a classic 1969 Pontiac Firebird (ad…

No. The accused getting acquitted is not the same as a proven false rape accusation. A conviction for filing a false rape accusation would a require a separate trial and the jury would have to be convinced beyond a reasonable doubt that a false rape accusation did indeed occur

The accused getting acquitted is not the same as a proven false rape accusation. A conviction for filing a false rape accusation would a require a separate trial and the jury would have to be convinced beyond a reasonable doubt that a false rape accusation did indeed occur. Also in the case of a false rape accusation I don't see the alleged rapist ever even making to trial - the evidence of a false rape accusation would most likely have stopped that. Billy Jean King was 29 and Bobby Riggs was 56 when they played "the battle of the sexes". I can't comment on Riggs "going easy" but the age difference in itself is significant. A real "battle of the sexes" would've had her play Jimmy Connors or Ilie Nastase in those days.

I am a conservative and I don't know anyone like that (the shaming part). I do know a few "husband is the breadwinner with a SAHM/wife" couples, but I've never experienced the shaming (although I'm sure it exists, it's a big country). My hobby was tuna fishing. When they are running I'm gonna be out there - for 3 to 5 days at a time. I told my ex this right when we started dating. August rolls around and the bluefin are hitting and man the shit storm that hit when I told her I was going to Ensenada for 3 days! I reminded her that I told her this was my #1 hobby but she didn't care. I dumped her and she backpedaled like crazy, but I told her it was too late.

This was a hypothetical, as stated earlier in the thread. Here is an article I mentioned where Intuit, who owns QuickBooks amongst other holdings, closed the merchant accounts (ability to take credit cards) of thousands of gun dealers last year. Even if a specific retailer does not use QuickBook, they would still possibly use Intuit's merchant services. Intuit was not alone in doing this, and as it was targeted at gun dealers, this is obviously a political/SJW action.

No the names have been changed. I'll look up a few choice cases later and update the thread - I'm actually on a programming project today. But the "victims" in these cases were always people running businesses that hard core left wingers think shouldn't even exist - hunting, guns & ammo, men's rights, etc.

I, as a gun or ammo seller, take credit cards. I am with SJW Bank. They figure out that I am selling guns and ammo, and in their SJW ways, decide I cannot use them as a CC processor anymore. So BOOM! I have to drop everything, scramble around and find a new CC processor, and in the meantime I can only take cash. It happened several times in the Obama administration recently. I'll look up a few choice cases later and update my post. Edit: Actually it was just last year. Again my post was a hypoth…

I actually like to start very hot, as in as hot as I can stand it. This is where I lather up and shampoo my hair and rinse off. Then I finish with a cold shower for about 3-4 minutes. It really gets me going, but I cannot speak to any of the science behind it.

You have a deep mis-understanding of religion if this is what you pulled from it. I am life long christian and I don't know a single person that relies on God to solve their problems. As an example, an atheist that is going fishing will get good tackle, sharp hooks, good bait, a weather report and go fishing. A christian does the exact same things only they pray about it too. It isn't like they expect God to make the fish jump in the boat. In the Jewish faith for another example, the only way to…

Why do think that a finance degree somehow magically = Wall Street? Why not Main Street? There are thousands of solid companies in the USA that need financial analysts, Controllers, etc. Many of these are privately held and don't have diddly to do with Wall Street. I used to be a Controller of a $100 million company that was a division of a huge Swedish company, so the stock was traded, but I spent next to zero time worrying about Wall Street. Also, the Corporate Rat Race goes way beyond Wall St…

This is actually good advice. There is no HR department. I did this once in the 90s. After telling this dude I was letting him go, I was quickly called into boss/owner's office. I calmly recapped all the discussions we had had of why I wanted this one guy fired. I reminded the boss that I was the dept head and this guy worked for me. The boss agreed, but said that doesn't mean I can fire people. So I said look, if you want to give him a job, fine, just get him the hell out of my department (mind…

I am a huge believer in this. I wake up round 5:30am every day and have never used an alarm clock. I am late maybe once every 2 years. Your body knows what time it is if you trust it. I also do great on 6-7 hours of sleep. Also being a self employed developer/support tech, it is great to get 8 hours in by noon. Then I can go fishing, work out, whatever (not every day of course, I have 12 and 14 hours days like anyone else) but it does provide me with a great deal of freedom.

How do know she wasn't blackout drunk? Blackout != passing out. A blackout is when you can't remember something. A person in an alcoholic blackout, while you can generally tell they have been drinking, still functions pretty normally. You can carry on entire conversations with people, play cards, pool, video games etc - and even win these games - and be blackout drunk. They literally do not remember any of it the next day. Man I can relate. I have a Toyota Corolla that is a great car, it's 10 years old, but I like it. I drive it on dates or maybe meeting someone for the first time. I was even asked once "what do you drive?". I pointed to the 10 year old Corolla. I could see she was unimpressed. What I didn't tell her is I also own a 1 year old 4-Runner and a vintage '69 Pontiac Firebird. Either of those would've been more impressive. I've also had been dating a few women and after a while, I showed them the other …

Yes there is. I cannot think of the guys name, but he founded MagLight (MagLite?) the flashlight company in CA. But less than 35% of people even go to college and of them a much smaller % are into the frat scene. Do you think people not n the frat scene don't fuck? Or are not worth fucking? One last time: where you were born and raised that you never heard of a frat? I am not asking for your name and address, just your country, state and nearest large city, or the city you went to school in. If you cannot or will not answer this, we are done.
/r/TheRedPill12/01/15 10:54 PM

You did not tell me where you were born and raised, you just alluded to it not being a white suburb. The frat scene is huge only to those that partake in it. Again this is definite small percentage of people. Do you think you have to be in a frat to get laid?

On the other hand, caffeine is bad for high blood pressure and heart disease. I do see a citation about where certain Mormons do not believe in drinking coffee, but once again there is no citation that Romney personally believes this. So please provide this citation if you have it.

Citation needed on his refusal to drink coffee. If this is the case, you may have a point. Even if he does not drink coffee, this does not mean he thinks this is a sin (even if certain sects of Mormonism do think this). He could be doing this purely for health reasons. Millions of Christians do not believe in the 6 day creation story or the great flood. You can call him a hypocrite or inconsistent with his professed religion's teachings, but there is no fucking way you can tell reddit or anyone …

The senate does not require 60/100 to pass, it requires 60/100 to bring the issue to a vote. A simple majority will pass in the senate. The actual number of senators needed to pass a bill depends on how many actually vote, as it is pretty rare to have all 100 senators present and voting. In the event of a tie the VP of the USA can cast the deciding vote.
