I can say as a woman whose husband was fit when we met and then became obese and then lost the weight and has kept it off it did help our relationship a lot. I am more attracted to him fit (I’m also fit) because we can do so much more together, I like that he takes care of himself, he is clearly more confident and just objectively more attractive. No, I would not trade him for a “younger model”, I just love seeing the man I love look his best, be healthy, active and confident.

No, I did not. The comic is incredibly one sided because it only shows one side of the struggle and paints a fake rosy picture for the other.

The mare should have other burdens such as being a single parent (80% of single parents are women), being expected to do most of the parenting responsibility even in two parent households, not being hired for better job opportunities even if single because employers assume a maternity leave in the future etc. Both genders have their struggles and this comic is very one sided.

Agreed, it would be nice to have a more in depth study done on this. But if you read the article and see the hardships Erin Pizzey endured for even bringing the subject up I can see why not so many social scientists are keen to explore this further, seems to be a very taboo subject.

Weren't there a whole bunch of studies done which show that in physically abusive relationships often times men and women both abuse each other? One of the pioneers of this research was Erin Pizzey, who opened some of the first domestic violence shelters. Angry so-called feminists then threatened to kill her multiple times because of her research. From an article about her: Soon after establishing her first refuge, Pizzey determined that much domestic violence was reciprocal,[27] with both partn…

Well I suppose then it's a good thing I asked the OP and not you. Besides in the sidebar definitions glossary it just says that a "game" is "A loosely based set of behaviors specifically designed to increase attraction." which is very unspecific and perhaps the OP I replied to has a more concrete definition of what he means by "games".

That was a very thorough explanation, thank you, appreciate it.

Hmm I never really tested if he was good enough for me, life tested us because we did have to overcome some tough things. If I was curious about something (wanting kids, seeing where and how he wants to live in the future etc.) I just asked him about it. Go ask him if it just happened. If he did not put any effort in right at the start. I just asked him, he said: "It really just kind of happened, as a matter of fact I played more games than you did".

Well we were each other's firsts and I think it certainly does matter. Though sadly our society often times tells you "Oh, if you've only ever been with one person you are missing out! YOLO!" etc. and many men and women crumble under that pressure and leave a perfectly happy relationship in order to gain "more experience". My younger sister is going through that with her bf right now, they've been together for 6 years, are each other's firsts, and he keeps saying how he is not sure he should sta…

Yes, he runs 5 days a week and I do 4-5 days as well + we love hiking together on weekends. Why does it matter? I'm not sure if I'm so much an exception or just someone who got lucky enough to meet the right guy at a young age so I wasn't "tainted" by going through a lot of bad relationships. From what I have seen many of my friends, whom I've known since childhood, start out the same way - idealistic, just wanting to love and to be loved, and then after they get their heart broken several times…

Will say right off that I'm not a part of this community, I came here from the post being discussed because I wanted to see the other side of the argument. Game-playing is hard-coded into the female brain, because it's a part of their sexual strategy. Ok, as a 27 woman who's been with the same guy since I was 15 and with whom we always built our relationship on honesty... what do you mean by game playing? (Or sexual strategy?) When I met my now husband, we pretty much clicked right away, I knew …

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
