True. I really need to work on keeping frame. I think I did alright because I didn't pout about it (which I have done in the past). I left the room and did watched Game of Thrones and finished up balancing my finances (both things I wanted to do). I did get upset though and have a tendency to do that. It doesn't help the situation at all ever. So much to learn!

I would say I have done 1 & 2 and am currently working on 3 & 4. Guess I got a ways to go!

Yes I would say I am above her SMV. She is very close to approaching or has blew past the wall. She stays in shape but has had two of my kids. I just keep getting better with age (35). I did read SGM. I have applied some of the knowledge but a lot of it is so far off of where I am currently at especially with variety and immersion (variety is difficult with her limited preferences and obviously with my post, immersion ain't happening for her).

I like that perspective. Thanks for taking the time to respond. I guess I'm going to have to really work on NGAF about how she is doing emotionally (depression/anxiety) during these times of withdrawal so I can lessen the urge to reconnect prematurely. I do find that challenging though because we have kids and when she is not well emotionally, the kids suffer as a result. Thanks again, your input is greatly appreciated!

Awesome! Thanks for the offer. It's nice to know there are like minded folks out there.

I can see that now. I do find it somewhat confusing though. I have come to understand that I should always be escalating/initiating. I mean if I feel like getting busy, I should try right? Even if it is in the midst of a situation like this? It seems to me that if I stay distant as a punishment for her bad behavior, it comes off as "beta" or pouting. What do you think?

Apparently not long enough. Your response makes a lot of sense. Thanks so much for the reply!

I try this but it never seems to work out for me. Whenever I with hold attention in response to bad behavior, my wife also withdraws. She assumes I'm mad at her (probably due to my previous BP behavior) so she checks out (spends more time on her phone, little to no physical contact, acts depressed, etc.) until I re-initiate attention. I'm concerned if I don't eventually reconnect it won't ever happen. What am I doing wrong?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
