I want to be your friend! Same here - the men always say they're interested in doing those things but then it's a chore trying to get them to do things/ they can't afford to do things.

Yes! My last ex did this to me. Every time I came over, he would talk for hours about his grievances at work or his desire/ fear of switching jobs. Then the next time I came over, he would talk about the same stuff! The first time he would talk about a subject, I would provide sympathy and advice. The additional times, I would just sit there being talked at because we already had that conversation! I tried addressing the issue. The first time he was receptive. I am new too. I always felt like maybe I was too critical because SO many things my friends dealt with in relationships seemed like deal breakers to me, and I couldn't understand why they put up with it. I am at the point where I would rather be single and focus on friendships than deal with a worthless man dragging me down. This group has validated so many feelings that I didn't know how to put into words.
