That's not rhetorical, that's a genuine question. If the fruits of your labor, the fruits of the actions you have taken with your bodily autonomy, are not yours, then why would your bodily autonomy be yours? Humiliation tactics are used with these things because it's easier than debating the situation. This is true. I think this is a more of a problem with people in general though. It's more surprising that you're shocked that people are mean on the internet. Not sure if there's any subject that you won't find people being really passionately crass about on twitter, so using phrases like, "these people," becomes a bit redundant. Besides, while I agree fully with the ruling; people should not have to identify as women or be women to get something for no good reason.
