I'm not really sure what you're getting at... Yeah there are things unexplainable about attraction, but we can definitely qualify it to a large degree. Would you say the same is true if the roles are reversed?

Actually, I think I have a pretty good idea of what I'm attracted to by now. Guys that think they know better than women what women are looking for, usually don't have any real depth because they think the same thing works for all or most of a "type" of woman. Humans (read: human women) are much more complex and individualized than that.

If you know it's obnoxious, why say it? Do you really believe what you said? Also, I haven't been girl for a long time.. I'm a woman. Sounds like a little benevolent sexism to me.

So in today's edition of What Object or Animal am I? Women are fish! Clueless fish, just waiting to be caught. Pretty dehumanizing metaphor. Maybe you should pay more attention to the previous answers instead of RP tripe.

Maybe since you (and many others) agree that these traits aren't exclusive to masculinity or femininity we could re label these traits as something else. Naming produces perceptions, to a degree. I like active vs passive. What do you think?

I do hear the social media thing. I think the voices like that, that are extreme and unhealthy get the media attention, sadly. And the majority of feminists don't condone those voices.

I looked this up and yeah, that's some petty BS. I don't think that these types of things constitute "fascism" though. Feminists don't have that much mass power. If they did, misogyny might not exist!

I don't know about other women here, but I certainly look to myself for strength and protection. There's not always someone physically stronger around, so I've got to be resourceful and learn how to best protect myself. In addition, I think it's a great skill for EVERYONE to have healthy emotional regulation. NO one likes a whiny drama queen or king for that matter. And everyone is perfectly capable of learning emotional regulation; distinct from emotional suppression. It really should not be ge…

Again, it's about power imbalance, brain development, and life experience. 18 year olds do not have fully developed brains. Not all big age gaps are predatory but many are.

You make good points. What I can say is that humans are different from other animals. We've evolved the ability to be conscious of our behaviors and adapt to numerous situations more readily than animals. Even if it used to be that somewhere during our evolution it was males that pursued females, we're not tied to that behavior anymore. We have for example birth control, so women do not have to be as afraid of getting pregnant from the "wrong" guy. We are also an extremely social species, so we …

We can disregard the article if you don't feel the study was well done or the conclusions sound. Like I mentioned before, it's not about forcing anyone to do anything but more about slowly changing social norms over generations (yes, it takes a really long time) by teaching our children differently. Even when we change the way we bring up our children (more egalitarian rather than gender role-coded) society will teach them the "traditional" gendered way, and keep trying to do that until there ar…

Don't you think if we taught our children differently, like that either man or woman can be the pursuer or the pursued, then they would behave differently? You're using what the paradigm currently IS as proof that biology made us do it. Mainly because of the way society views the sexual dynamic between men and women. Men are viewed as sexual "aggressors" rather than the "object of desire" as women are viewed. You'll notice that most shows and movies are written in such a way for the (straight) male gaze. Women are shown as sexy and desirable to cater to men. While if you showed men that way (sexy and desirable, etc), it's believed that straight male viewers would not accept that depiction and not want to watch the show. It's ba…

👏 I would even go so far as to say that male and female sexuality are much more alike than different. I think that many men are socialized/brainwashed into thinking that they only want sex when they really want closeness, empathy, non sexual physical touch. Things they are only "allowed" to get from a romantic partner, when women are "allowed" to get this from platonic friends. Don't get me wrong, as a woman sex is one of my main love languages and is extremely integral to any romantic relations…

How does feminism cause harm to boys and men?
/r/MensRights02/12/20 04:41 PM

Even the title is misleading; a 32 year old does not "have sex" with a 14 year old. That's always called "rape."
/r/MensRights02/12/20 04:35 PM

I definitely agree that how we treat innocent people in the justice system needs to be fixed. You're usually not treated as "innocent until proven guilty" and that's a problem. And yes, rape and sexual assault are one thing, sexual harassment something different carrying a different punishment. I don't appreciate anybody trying to manipulate the system to their advantage by twisting what happened. Your solution, while seemingly "strange" is a pretty good idea imo! Especially between those that a…

Not a bad idea, but let me play devil's advocate. The vast majority of rape accusations are true. So of we start increasing the severity of punishment for false accusers, what if more actual rapists try to prove that victims are making false allegations? Then innocent victims are unfairly slapped with a heavy sentence and rapists go free. Rapists tend to live in a power imbalance with their victims, so this could be a probable outcome. Think Donald Trump types. I don't think there's an easy answ…

Defamation laws exist. They protect those who have been wrongly accused of crimes when those accusations are untrue and have caused damage to the person's reputation. The law allows those falsely accused of a crime to pursue a cause of action in court, generally based on defamation of character, which requires the accused to prove that a false statement was made, the statement was conveyed to a third party and that statement caused harm. Edit: if you think it's difficult to win a defamation suit…

Why would you believe those women anyways? Maybe they're actually the ones being awful. Lol. You're quite inconsistent. And you don't know who I am or how much experience I've had. You're sounding more and more like those imaginary hordes of narcissistic women.

How do you see inside a woman's mind? Have you been one? It's simply illogical to assume to know the internal machinations of another person, especially one you don't know. I don't know why you keep saying "we both know" as I've disagreed with everything you've said. Imo, it's pretty narcissistic to assume you know others' feelings and intentions. As for solutions, it's really complicated. First people realizing that we have this systemic issue in the first place. Second, making conscious choices every day to change beliefs and behaviors. I think the meaning of patriarchy is not being understood. Here's the definition: "Patriarchy is a social system in which men hold primary power and predominate in roles of political leadership, moral authority, social privilege and control of property. Some patriarchal societies are also patrilineal, meaning that property and title are inherited by the male lineage. Patriarchy is associated with a set of ideas, a patriarchal ideology that acts to explain and justify this dominance and attribute…

(The hell are you talking about? Women are the majority of voters, Women control politics more than Men do. Who do you think voted for Trump instead of Hilary, Men only? No, that wouldn't have been possible without Women voters.) -I'm talking about actual representation. In things like government and business. You cannot argue that government and business are divided equally by gender representation. Women that vote against their own interests (read: Trump) might have internalized misogyny. (Whi…

Here's what I would want to change. Note that all of these things benefit both sexes. -women and men are viewed as equal for positions of leadership and women have about half of the political and social power -there would be similar expectations placed on women and men to follow any career path they choose, including men in traditionally women dominated fields and vice versa -men take as much of a role as women in their children's lives and home lives and are seen as competent parents; paternal …

I just call it as I see it 😌 And I appreciate that recognition! Sometimes it feels like I'm hitting my head on a proverbial concrete wall with this sub's occupants. That's so interesting. I'm not sure what's going on. Some sort of backlash to something or another, I'm sure. Yes to the height thing!!! 5'9" is the average US male's height, people, come on! I happen to be a 5'9" (millennial) woman, so I guess I don't see opposite height disparities as much of an issue. Let's be Reddit buddies?

What a well thought out response! Probably the best I've ever seen on this sub, and others for that matter. Your point about filters, I think, is spot on. And the mob boss example was great! 🤣 I follow dead bedrooms as well and I think that the LTR factor complicates things. What should be straightforward and simple with comfort gets messed up by life events and an inability to adapt accordingly. Again, I agree with your last paragraph assessment.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/09/20 11:01 PM

Funny, that that person tried pointing out that my personal experience doesn't change "reality." Good question. I think if we were able to control for all those disparities, sex drives would appear to equal out among men and women. And that means, it would change the whole landscape of dating and sex. On the flip side, there would probably be no more need for sex work and women wouldn't receive a disproportionate amount of attention. What do you think?

In addition, there are a myriad of reasons that there may be a gap in sex behaviors between men and women that have nothing to do with natural libido: -poor body image/shame in women perpetrated by media and family -religion and social pressures are different on men vs women relating to sex and promiscuity -Safety- women can get STDs more easily, can be physically assaulted by a man much easier than the reverse, can get pregnant -Birth control and antidepressants kill libido in many women -prior…

You might find this interesting. These studies are fairly small, so take with a grain of salt I suppose. But they seem to show that natural T levels in women do not directly correlate to sex drive, except in cases of replacement therapy. https://www.livescience.com/21114-testosterone-sex-drive-masturbation.html Things get a bit more complicated on the female side. We're planning on giving our kid(s) my last name! Not exactly sure if that was what you're asking.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/09/20 08:31 PM

Some of both. But even if it started out sexual, it turned into something more. Edit: and let's be clear. I wanted it to be sexual initially. That's sort of a metric for a relationship for me. I'd have no reason to assume that a man approaching me as a woman wants a relationship either since there is no way to know this unless you communicate about it.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/09/20 06:51 PM

I understand! You're most welcome. And to answer your edit, I didn't propose but he didn't really either. I never thought I wanted to get married but we eventually came to that mutually. And if a woman wants to propose I think it is wonderful. I did not take his last name. I'm not about sexist traditions.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/09/20 04:39 PM

I've never felt either of those things. The reasons people do or do not ask someone out are complex and may have little to do with actual attraction. Once they were with me, they chose every day of our relationship to stay with me. So, they did choose me in that sense. Yes, they COULD HAVE chosen something different before, but I asked them out, so that never happened. Would you inquire this of a man, I'm just curious?
/r/PurplePillDebate09/09/20 04:22 PM

Thank you. I think it's simple. You see someone you know you like/have a good feeling about, and go for it. Not too much to lose and there's potentially a lot to gain. I've never been one to sit around and wait on that front lol.

I don't see how any of what you said in this comment has to do with the way you disparaged "women" as a monolith in your prior comment. Of course you shouldn't do things just to try to get stuff from other people. That's selling yourself short, inauthentic, and bordering on manipulative. I just don't see why you have to say blanket statements about women that are clearly not true. Maybe they're true from your experience/perspective but that's limited as I'm sure you realize.

They weren't self reports. Did you read the last one I linked? If you agree it's not biological, and women can have drives equal to men, why say otherwise? Other species are not humans; we are unique. Edit: I agree that that's currently "how it is" but that doesn't mean men are naturally more libidinous. Men are expected to do the approaching, men are pressured and told that they are more of a man the more sex they have. Women, on the opposite side, are told to be chaste; ridiculed if they're pr…

You're the only one that called me a feminist lol. I just accurately described the movement. I think if you look deeper there are some good reasons why these things happened. It's not anti male. /r/AntiFeminists22/07/20 12:32 PM
1

There are actual reasons for this. Not misandry lol. If you want to ignore the fact that most of our government and businesses are controlled by men a and men hold most of the power in the courts, fine. Be blind. Btw, that's called a patriarchy. Oh and you know me so well.. got me. I have zero empathy for men. When I was JUST saying that men have important problems too. But you just want to yell at me.
/r/AntiFeminists22/07/20 12:26 PM

Feminism doesn't ignore men's problems. By fixing and facing women's problems, some men's issues will naturally be solved by proxy. Not all, but that's why men's special interest groups are important. If you're an MRA that doesn't blame feminism, great for you! I personally have seen many MRAs (specifically MRAs) that do. Social norms are patriarchy. That is the society we live in. And calling it patriarchy does not mean it's just blaming men. It's about the power distribution in the social sphe…
/r/AntiFeminists20/07/20 04:58 PM

Do you know what a special interest group is? Yes, feminism is about equality, but that goal is worked towards by focusing on a specific group that has specific problems to their group. In this case, women . That is generally because those in the MRM blame feminism and women for their problems, when patriarchy is the problem.

I was in a situation with intense emotional manipulation and abuse. It was very hard to recognize, being in the situation. I'll agree that our society treats women abusers different and that is changing. But I disagree that men aren't as adept at mental and emotional abuse.

Abuse is more complex than that.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/07/20 03:13 PM

Again, you can't separate you opinion from the third point you made, which is that society places high value on women looking young, so even if objectively a man and woman of the same age have aged the same, you're going to perceive that the woman has aged more. I don't think you're opinions are backed by science. Let's agree to disagree.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/06/20 03:53 PM

I really don't think that's correct about women aging faster. We have a cult around female youthfulness, so anything such as a tiny wrinkle is considered ugly for a woman. We treat men differently in this regard. They "age like fine wine," etc even though they're aging the same.

More, I'd say. I now have higher standards for myself. And personally, I still get mistaken for a 23 y/o and I'm about to be 31. The wall isn't a thing for most people that actually take decent care of themselves.

Women don't make actual friendships with men? What a dismal worldview. Maybe actually try to be friends with an actual woman.

I'm sure you're much smarter than Mr. Peterson.

Why make this post if you're clearly already convinced? Doesn't seem like anyone here presenting opposing views is influencing you.

Maybe stop generalizing and making "women" a monolith and realize that there's no rule or box you can put anybody in, man or woman. Everyone is completely unique.

Many women are actually very horny during their menstrual cycle, myself included. I have some of the best sex and orgasms on my period. "Generally man hate and turn into bitches," wow friend way to hate and generalize. https://www.womenshealthmag.com/sex-and-love/a20639307/horny-on-period/ Some of the info on T in the article doesn't line up with other resources I've read, but it's a pretty good study. More people should try sex on their period! And I find my libido is not strictly linked to my …

Cool! Glad we could share some info. You're very welcome; I seem to run into similar issues with people being close minded and emotionally reacting, rude, etc. So I extended the same thanks to you. Nothing gets across otherwise, I say. Edit: I don't have a science or gender degree, but gender studies has been a lifelong interest or "hobby" I guess you could say. It's such a sticking point even these days that I think it's so important to have these types of informed discussions.

Very interesting studies, thank you. You're clearly well-read on the subject. While I have not completely read through them, I did find some additional interesting information. These studies are fairly small, so take with a grain of salt I suppose. But they seem to show that natural T levels in women do not directly correlate to sex drive, except in cases of replacement therapy. Wish I were able to find the actual study reports. https://www.livescience.com/21114-testosterone-sex-drive-masturbati…

The testosterone link is not so simple however. It doesn't seem to help older men with sex drive at all, only things like bone density. Also, every body reacts differently to every hormone and chemical. Effects of T are poorly understood. Doing some reading currently on the topics, I will get back with you. Edit: another factor that I think is often overlooked is the fact that many women are on hormonal birth control that can severely cripple sex drive.

Isn't this based on self reporting? I always read crap like this but it never rang true for me as a very HL woman. Always have had matched or higher sex drive than my male partners long term. I find myself the one sexually frustrated in my relationships 😅 I think socialization has a LOT to do with findings like this. And I apologise, I did not read the link. Edit: now I have read them. Let me see if I can find this one interesting study for you.

Why do you assume that the default agreement is that the woman will stay home and jeopardize her career (presumably putting unnecessary work on another co worker as well) while the man will work? And actually, workers DO agree to do the work they are asked/paid for. You can't put that on the employees; it's the employers responsibility to make sure shit works while people are on leave.

Guess what also happens when he doesn't take all his paternity leave? When he's not doing the job of "father", someone else has to take over; someone else gets more responsibility without extra pay, namely the mother! What is more important here? Being a good father and partner to your offspring's bearer? Or random person at work's "extra" responsibilities (who doesn't pay for extra responsibilities in a workplace, anyway?)/company finances?

Feminists are for bodily autonomy and consent for all people, therefore feminist thought is against forced circumcision.

As a woman who is both a professional athlete and artist (I dance professionally) I can tell you that it's a very attractive thing when men are comfortable enough with themselves to break with traditional/cultural gender norms and just do what they love. Authenticity is sexy. In addition, cultural gender performative expectations are just a something that we made up. Like you said yourself, both athleticism and art are gender neutral. As is everything else that you can spend your time on. It's o…

If part of the ideology includes dehumanizing humans, what does that say about the ideology as a whole? Can't you focus on men's issues without denigrating the other sex? Do your own research; you don't need red pill or MGTOW. Check out r/MensLib as there are some great articles and discussions in the comments.

Those who use the banner of "feminism" to denigrate men are not feminists, truly.

This is true. Men and women can both be abusers, and it is never right. The only caveat is that it is more likely for a man to seriously injure a woman. One quarter of women killed in the US are killed by a current or former lover.

I'd be inclined to agree with you, however; historically we have and still do need these special interest groups so that we can finally be an "egalitarian" society. Who will stand up for my rights if not me and other women? Most men surely didn't, or simply didn't realize the need for it.
/r/MensRights14/03/19 10:21 PM

I guess I assume that it's implied, when you use the politically correct term for a group. If she had said, "so-called 'feminist' extremists" I'd be satisfied. But the issue is, people actually believe that this crap is what feminism really is.
/r/MensRights14/03/19 10:18 PM

I hear you that certain "3rd wave feminists" have been all over the media giving feminism a bad name. The sad part is, that (small) group of people are extremists. Would you call "Islamic extremists" or "Christian extremists" (think Westboro Baptist) Christians or Muslims? They go a against the very core of what the religions stand for, imho.

Well this is a red herring because actual feminists don't hate men. They actually want equality; how novel.

All of the things listed for black people are stereotypes that have been wrongly spread in our society. The things listed about men IN GENERAL are not far from the truth. There's a big difference.

One is truth and the other is, well, racism. I believe ALL men are intelligent and capable of being decent human beings, though.
