Most of that crap doesn't matter. How care what others think of you? You are about to go through one of the most devastating events in your life. Anything you can do to alleviate your stress is paramount at this time. Perfect, civil dialogue and focus on the kids is the best way to navigate living together under the same roof for a while. You don't have to play happy family, because it is not. Set some boundaries with her and get through the process.

50/50 worked the best for me. The only reason my ex didn't want 50/50 because she wanted more money. I said and fought for no. My three were in elementary and high school and they are great adults now. 50/50 works. Least disruptive my ass!!!

Your happiness is not overrated. It's hard not to look at it as an ending but a new beginning. Moving on with your life is paramount to your happiness. You can't make people do what they don't want to do. You do you.

First, are you ready to be divorced? That is the ultimate question. Is the marriage broken enough to divorce? Then if that is the case, stop making excuses, get a lawyer and do some homework. Wasting time is just that, a waste. You can't get all the ducks in a row that you are worrying about without the first step of a lawyer.

The only one that is suffering is you. Your unhappiness transfers to your kids. Never stay for the kids. Waiting only delays the inevitable and draws out the pain and suffering.

Just have fun and date with realistic expectations. Neither of them are probably your next wife. Just have a blast. Hone your skills.

It's just like going to a convention of any sort. You attend a few classes and you know that all that crap doesn't apply to you or your business - so you grab bits and pieces that you can apply to your life. Pretty basic. There's always someone out there can teach you to carve a turkey better!

Sorry for the late reply. Try to ease off the drinking. It affects your quality sleep too. Your focus transfers from your marriage to taking care of little man. Being the best father you can be is paramount now. All that negativity associated with your wife - flip the script and take all that energy taking care of him. It's a terrible and hard process but doable.

AND..... if and when you start the process - don't move out of the house, sleep in another room. Be cordial even if the emotional abuse continues. Don't engage negatively. Ride out your time. Stay together for the kids is selfish to you and to them.

Your happiness is not overrated. Start at that point and strive to take the necessary steps to do so.

It's been a few days. Has she reached back to you? Counseling and therapy for you both. If she doesn't participate, you have to figure out when you are done trying. Only then should you start the divorce process. But you have to be completely done! Godspeed.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
