By your reasoning, if the appropriate response to being punched and yelled at is a body slam. Then where do you draw the line? It has nothing to do with white knighting, I'm all for the girl being punished by the school administration. My issue is that the male's response is categorically unnecessary. Should he have defended himself; yes. Was that the appropriate response; no. I'm simply subscribing to the idea of "Restrain the aggressor, don't escalate the violence."

You're agreeing with me too. I couldn't understand why the teacher wouldn't intervene in a situation like this. There needs to be some disciplinary action taken, in my opinion. Teachers are required to protect and educate the students in his or her care. They aren't there to collect a pay stub. I'm sure even the union would struggle in siding with the teacher.

I don't think anyone was expecting him to toss her. I certainly wasn't. I presume most people in the classroom assumed she was going to hit/push/slap him. And, he was going to take it. End of conflict. I'm not saying they should have let it go as long as they did. I agree that someone should have intervened (for example, the teacher.) Well... let's be fair here. Which of these attacks appears to be more intense? Most people, and I can speak from personal experience, are going to look at this girl and assume she's not going to do any real damage to the boy. The presumption likely held amongst the class is that she's going to push him or slap him. However, when he performs a modified belly-to-back suplex most people are going to likely feel that the "fight" has escalated to a place where they now need to interfere.

I've seen this before, it turns out it actually doesn't portray what you think it does. The girl photographed is the child, and she calls her father Juan because she has no interest in viewing him as a father. She opted to use the money he sent to get new shoes and her nails done.
