I sometimes have the same problem. What you have to recognize, however, is that wit is often highly contextualized - more so than situational responses. A witty remark may only apply to a given statement or movement. So they can be used as fillers or placeholders. They don't translate to resolutions for situational issues because they aren't meant for that, and thus can't be used as a replacement for situations requiring bar/club talk.
