That's been happening to me for going on 12 years now. The sad part is that I've moved on from my ex and started a new family, so I must do everything I can to help support the household. Even if I'm only making less than minimum wage after CS gets their cut.

Oh believe me, there is a custody problem. As a matter of fact, it's never been legally set. More of it is that my daughter has picked up on her mothers unhealthy habits. Since her mom "believes" she doesn't need to go, she feels the same as well. To make it better, her aunt (mothers sister) TOOK HER OUT OF SCHOOL to take her to see a movie yesterday. It disgusts me, but there is really nothing I can do; it's horrible to be helpless.

When I went to court to set up my child support order, it was total BS as well. After the "calculations" I was to pay $90 a week, when I made only $7/hr at the time. I have epilepsy, and my treatment requires expensive medication (around 2k a month) and a $50k surgery every 5 to 7 years. Expect about the same as if you had a lawyer. It really varies from state to state, but child support hearing never go well.

When it comes to my children, cost is out of the question. I think I know what the "right" first step is, and I'm working on doing it, which is to get her to speak with a counselor to get this on a record of sorts. Her just speaking her opinion in court won't do any good. In the scheme of things, my daughter has had a relative good life. It has been the past 4 that has been sheer hell for her. Mostly due to her mothers' indiscretions about what was a good decision.

We've been working on that kinda. She knows that if she decides to move in with us, that there's no going back. She knows the rules of my home, and I think she likes them. Ever seen hoarders? Imagine that on a smaller scale. That's what I mean by trashy. Literally trash. Not trashy in a lifestyle sense. Exactly, the constant state of "lockdown" my daughter is placed in is out of the ordinary. She just called me a few minutes ago and said that as soon as I left from dropping her off last night, her stepfather came into her room and took her laptop & power cord to her TV. I never wanted to be an "occasional" parent. It's the system that has forced me to be one. I would have her 24/7 if I could, but our state somehow believes that the mother is always the best parent. My father raised me, as my mother was too busy doing drugs, and having affairs to be occupied with a young son.

Parental rights are so skewed towards females in this country (USA) that it sometimes makes me want to move abroad. My wife and I are currently in a tif about my smoking.
