"No I'm not a typical guy" So what are you then?

"where it doesn't seem like I'm hitting on them" Why wouldn't you hit on them?

I typically hate the whole 'alpha/beta' thing that gets thrown around, but you have to admit you acted in quite a beta way here. "I asked her if she was still interested in going" - don't do that, it sounds uncertain and not confident. Never introduce doubt. "if I'm not cool with him it'd just be us" - she gave you the option to keep it just you two. You should have said "maybe some other time, I'm more interested in seeing you". Shows interest and is assertive while still polite. "said I'd invi…

Is there a relationships subreddit for Christians? Might be worth a shot.

Interesting scenario. If getting a reputation as a player (inevitable, if you're sleeping around in a culture that frowns upon that) will negatively affect your work, then I only see two options: don't do it, or be subtle about it.

I don't take it personally, of course. I respect that different guys have different approaches, but to me it really just seems like a misunderstanding of the word. Dictionary definition of aggressive: "ready or likely to attack or confront; characterized by or resulting from aggression". What part of that description fits Brad Pitt? I completely agree that being assertive and making the move are good principles, but I can't get over the suggestion that aggression is desirable.

"By definition, men are aggressive" This kind of talk leans uncomfortably close to RedPill-style 'biotruths' and caveman science. Being aggressive is not an 'alpha' trait, much less a desirable one.

The thing is, applying these logical arguments to what you termed 'insanity' is invariably ineffective. For me, time is the only healer (as well as taking care of yourself and distracting yourself from the object of your affections).

"Should I just do her to keep getting more experience while I set up other dates?" What kind of experience do you hope to gain? You've been in a long relationship so I imagine you're adequately sexually experienced; fucking this girl for the sake of it just sounds like lowering your standards. It's up to you, but I don't see any benefit to it other than just getting laid.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
