Abandoning a baby in a dumpster is pretty obviously at the very least attempted murder. I think most people understand that. A lot of people don't understand what is and is not rape. The vast majority of rapes are not the "scary guy jumps out of the bushes while you're jogging" kind. Most are by acquaintances. And a lot happen in those gray areas.
