Let’s start with a focus on ending male circumcision in America. No one can be for men’s rights and for circumcision. That is a contradictio in terminis.

I suppose small fringe elements of a movement might take views opposed by the overwhelming majority. If that’s what you’re saying I agree. But I get the impression the MRM could very well be 50-50 on the issue. Maybe I’m way off base with that, if you have more information I’d be interested. When you say people have different understandings of the procedure, are you saying some people just need to be educated?

Different opinions about mutilating newborn boys in a men’s rights movement lol? It’s actually pretty funny, but also tragic.

The lack of a consensus on this issue has hobbled the MRM! It makes the MRM just look like a joke. How can you be for men’s rights but also be for mutilating newborn boys?

It means those who want to do it for religious reasons can receive special approval to do so. The funny thing is that I’m agreeing with you and yet you’re getting mad.

Male circumcision is by far the most glaring problem facing American men today.

Don’t you mean because your father had it done and wanted your penis to look like his? Why did he want that? I don’t understand that thinking.

Why did they decide to do it to you?

At best comments like that are misleading and disingenuous. Certainly not medicine.

You’re playing semantic games now lol? Check your facts before dishing out quackery that’s harmful. Evidence-based medicine is what you want to rely on.

How can you say “maybe” lol?!?! This is basic medicine.

The risk of UTI’s is very low amongst intact and not intact males primarily because males have a long urethra. It’s deceptive to not state that the risk of UTI’s is still low amongst intact males. It’s also patently false to claim that not intact penises are more hygienic. Both intact and not intact penises require hygienic care. You won’t find a single medical society in the world that advocates for routine neonatal circumcision. You should do your research before throwing stuff out there.

The fact is every circumcision is different. It’s not as though the procedure has been 100% standardized so that precisely the same amount of foreskin is removed in exactly the same way. There are wide ranges in the skills of providers who perform the procedure and their technique, many different tools exist to perform it, etc. It’s such a huge gamble with circumcision. The one thing all circumcised men should understand is that their son’s penis will not look like their penis, it will be differ…

Growing up all the circumcised penises I saw looked so stupid and fruity. Made me glad I was intact.

I think Alan Cumming described the difference in sensitivity very well: “Say I am having a shower and as I am toweling myself off my foreskin gets pulled back, revealing the head of my penis. When I begin to dress, if the head is still out and it touches the fabric of my underwear, it is so uncomfortable and sensitive that I have to pull my foreskin back down immediately before I can finish dressing. That’s how sensitive it is. And that’s also how much sensitivity you lose when you are circumcis…

Given the number of affected men, it should be #1

I think there’s some truth to this. But the fact it was done without their permission when they were an infant should logically still cause these men to be outraged. This issue is a golden opportunity for the movement and it’s being bypassed.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
