1	Anyone knowledgeable on programming that could offer advice? It's almost never "that simple". You have a couple layers to your project (sounds like you need to interface with unique hardware, so you may need to create drivers, and then you need to both calculate the results you want and display them nicely, so you need both a front end and a back end), so I think you may have a hard time if you've never coded anything before.
