When you grow up in a world where there is a distinction between "men's work" and "women's work", you limit the possibilities of both genders. In a society where little girls aren't expected to "repair this or that", not only do they never learn the skills of "repairing this or that", but they are discouraged and made to feel like they aren't capable of EVER learning it.
