A couple divorces at 64. Now the earner cant retire, since the homemaker took half of the assets and now is entitled to alimony. The savings to support one house hold cant support two. This isn't exactly fair either.

Every tax form from the marriage should be added up to see who earned what percentage of the income, then the assets divided by those percentages. If one spouse served as a "homemaker" they should get 30% of the others income, for a period of no more than 5 years. This should cap out at some level of comfort, so 200% of the median income, but the other spouse should get a deductible before any alimony needs to be paid, say 66% of the median income. AFAIK the y chromosome doesn't code for much, it just kinda tells the body "yep, your a man, better do man things". Also female cells select one X chromosome to shut off and ignore? I read that somewhere, but im not gonna call it a fact.
