Ok lol I don’t waste my time digging into Twitter bios for background research on random screenshots that don’t matter

Why would you assume that the woman in this post is a feminist?

Oh I agree the post is absolutely ridiculous but so is everyone in here talking as it applebees is a perfectly acceptable place to go on a date

They just feel personally attacked, probably because they don’t have a lot going on.

I have a soft spot for Burger King. I wouldn’t take someone there on a first date. If you like Applebee’s that’s fine, but if you think it’s first date material it would tell me your personality is as bland as the food they serve. It would tell me that it isn’t just a guilty pleasure, but that you actually think of Applebee’s as a special night out. And you know what? That’s ok. There are other people like you out there who would love to go on a date to Applebee’s. Take them out instead of getti…

They paraphrased my comment pretty well. You took one section of it out of context.

Thank you for expanding on my thought, this is exactly what I meant. Dates are about getting to know someone’s personality, a personality that finds comfort in bland and predictable chain restaurants is not one that I’m interested in. But there are clearly people out there who do, and maybe they’d be perfect for each other.

But I can get food for the same price that isn’t bland and generic... if you enjoy it, go for it. I personally don’t like spending money on food I don’t enjoy. I prefer relationships with people who share some level of interest with me, and if their idea of a fun night out is Applebee’s I’ll pass on that.

That’s great, you do you. Not everyone feels that way, and it’s ok to think it would be a terrible date night. Find someone who thinks Applebee’s is romantic and enjoy being yourself, but don’t expect everyone to think it’s a nice date idea.

Isn’t it perfectly reasonable to not want to date someone due to differing tastes and interests? I don’t think someone who thinks Applebee’s is good food would be someone I could be in a long term relationship with honestly. Maybe I don’t want to live in the suburbs, maybe I like to travel places that aren’t Disney world, basically I might want to experience things that aren’t just cookie cutter versions of what I’ve already experienced.

But why not a similarly priced restaurant that isn’t a shitty chain restaurant with bad food

I wouldn’t eat at Applebee’s but it’s because I don’t like spending money on absolutely garbage food. If I’m gonna eat out I’d rather eat fast food than that trash. It’s not cheap enough to be worth it, for the same price I can go to a cheap independent restaurant and get way better food.

You will get the 500 for your infant as a credit on next year’s taxes. Obviously doesn’t help you now, but just wanted to let you know that you can get that money in the end. I’m in the same boat.

I have a dream that my two little testicles will one day hang from a seat where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the contents of their epididymis. I have a dream... I have a dream that one day in New York, with its sweltering heat wave, that little black balls and saggy black balls will swing together with little white balls and saggy white balls as brothers. I have a dream today... I have a dream that one day every testicle will be exalted, every nutsack will be made to…

Very true. An added benefit is that I can pull my pants down and let my balls hang through the hole, so I don’t have to manspread to give them space. Truly a win win win scenario—no poop on the seat, no bags on the seat, and nutbags hang through seat.

I’d rather the poop end up on the floor instead of on the seat

There used to be some meaningful discussion here, but now it seems to be an odd alliance of incels and bitter divorced men who can’t seem to judge a woman’s character before marrying them.

They do imprison women for murdering infants, but they also try to prevent the murders in the first place. Giving that option prevents infanticide.

Are you dense? The alternative is throwing the baby in a dumpster. That option isn’t meant for sane reasonable parents, it’s often due to inability to cope with a child due to mental illness.

What are you on about? When they implemented it in each state, it was all over the news. It's a good thing... the point of the law isn't about giving women the right to choose, it's supposed to protect children from infanticide. Infanticide is not common, but it is a consistent reality that has existed throughout human history. Safe haven laws are the opposite of 'something you aren't supposed to talk about—' they're taking something that people weren't supposed to talk about and finding a solut…

That's not a dirty little secret, that is the express purpose of the law.

You (and everyone else here) is missing the most important variable in this equation, and it's the variable the courts and the law weigh the most heavily—the interest of the child itself. The right of the child to have the resources it needs is held to a much higher regard than the father's right to autonomy and freedom. The burden of raising a child would have to become public in order for 'paper abortions' to ever work. If free quality childcare existed, free quality medical care for parent an…

Black people are more than twice as likely to be killed by police in the US. You clearly did your best to avoid saying that because you have a racist agenda to attend to, but it's the truth.

Sounds like you rely heavily on the fallacy fallacy to make your case in arguments. Not very effective. How's college doing btw?

Everyone has the right to be defended in court. A lawyer's job is to make sure the prosecution is held accountable and to keep the system honest and above board. They are doing society a favour.

Pretty sure adults really shouldn't be having sex with 14 year olds. For one thing, that invites perverts to pressure or manipulate children into consenting. This is why minors lack the legal capacity to sign binding contracts of any type.

I'm not entirely sure its less common, its just that men don't talk about it when it does happen. I think people really just need to learn to be more empathetic in general. I know I was raised to have empathy, and any time I came close to crossing a line in my personal relationships I've felt immense guilt over even coming close to acting in a way that may have hurt someone I cared about. I also don't feel resentment or bitterness towards women who have crossed lines with me, I don't think it wo…

I agree with you wholeheartedly that comprehensive and progressive discussions of sex and consent is important. I do not believe, however, that there is any effectiveness whatsoever to targeting young men. For one thing, almost all education on consent already targets young men, and in my personal experience there have been no shortage of women who could use that kind of education. Unless you think its ok for middle aged women to grope young men without any consent. Or if you think its ok for wo…

A girl I was dating did a similar thing to me when I was young. Its a crazy thing to do, but seemingly normal people can become crazy when it comes to personal relationships.

The problem with what you're saying is that it is a problem with 'young men.' Young men can be pressured into sex and they can be victims of sexual assault. Targeted messaging towards 'young men' further this narrative that they cannot be victims and can only be perpetrators.

Hey, easy with the projecting here. You said it yourself--mainstream feminists are not the ones advocating all the terrible things you accuse feminism to be about. You accused me of the 'no true scotsman' fallacy, while saying that mainstream feminists (the majority of feminists) are not true feminists, and only the most crazy ones are. Can you take a moment to consider what it would mean if you apply the same standard to MRAs? The useful idiot argument is idiotic on its own, same can be said of…

Who has disallowed discourse on men's issues? Discourse on the internet is difficult, because the crazies can butt into anything they'd like. Try talking to feminist women in real life, they are more likely to be sympathetic than non-feminists that have a stake in the status quo. All I'm really trying to get at is that by disparaging feminism, you make MRAs look equally crazy. You are preemptively setting yourself up to be ignored. Its not a zero sum game.

Who are these 'honest people who believe in equality?' Who believes that feminism is some crazy outlier? If you base your beliefs on what some commenters said on reddit once, you need to get out more, or maybe read. I'm a man, I believe in equal rights, and I was raised in a feminist household. I was raised to understand that feminism is as much about equality for men as it is for women. When you have a movement dominated by women, naturally there is going to be a bit of a lopsided perspective. …
