You don't go to jail for years for child support. You will get out of jail MUCH sooner than leaving the country.

You can't see your kids in another country either. Plus the kids could also interpret it as "I didn't want to go to jail for a tiny bit, so I left the country and abandoned you instead." You get out of jail. You don't get out of running away.

You won't be in jail forever. Especially for child support. I'm sure his children would appreciate in-person visits after he gets out much more than him running away and emailing him. And you can't just hop on a plane anytime you want. They cost a lot of money. They will have school they can't miss. "I'm not abandoning my kids! They can skype me whenever they want!"

But he won't be in jail forever. But if he runs away it will be forever? And even if he has 0% custody now, that can change. And if he has any more than 0% that's better than 1%. Giving up on your children because it's too hard is terrible. If there is one thing in life you should never, ever give up on, it's your children.

You'd get out of jail eventually. If you ran away, you'd probably never come back. Plus running away is voluntarily leaving your children. He's not choosing to go to jail.
