your story reminds me of this guy who I apparently sat next to on the bus in high school (he claims, i don't remember)...who literally finds me on EVERY damn app I get on and sends me a message trying to "reconnect" (reconnect what?? i literally talked to him once or twice on a bus). i've already told my friends if i end up murdered, it's gonna be this dude.

oh ok. makes sense now. more traditional men tend to be conservative and they have an idea of gender roles and paying for drinks falls into that. it's actually really interesting because I notice that as well...not in the city where i live but when i visit my parents house (who live in a conservative area), literally EVERY man will open the door for me when going into an establishment, even a gas station. it's like the complete opposite of my very liberal city where they couldn't care less.

haha aita is a goldmine. i love reading it for entertainment purposes. re: that twitter post...there was something incredibly close to that written on reddit recently (forget the sub). A woman was living w the bf and going to school but expected to be the maid in exchange for living there free or reduced rent (i forget). Then he was getting upset at her for skipping the dishes once in awhile or not cooking all his meals (she's not holding up her side of the deal). Like indentured servitude. And …
