In my opinion, frame is just solid action, no thoughts involved. Like a strong frame doesn't think, it just is. And only way to get there is to hold your head up high, do what you feel is at your core, and not give a fuck.

My guess is that her behavior gets her what she wants. Has she been taught how to say please and thank you? My kids don't get shit until they use manners.

"I'd like you to sleep in bed w me tonight. Not on the couch." For noise, I have a brown noise machine. I have to have noise too. Read together in bed or something. Just throwing out ideas

Related scenario/question: wife, kids and I went camping w another family (husband/wife w kids). They're longtime friends. One night we were ending it by the campfire, lots of whiskey and beer. Having a good time. I left the fire to go out to my car to get something, leaving my wife, my son (7), and the other husband sitting by the fire. The husbands wife is inside. I over heard the husband say to my son: "your mommy looks beautiful by the campfire." It was said in a kind of shmoozy way. Then ju…

If you haven't already, you could try cutting out caffeine completely. When I did that, I fell asleep faster, stayed asleep longer, better quality sleep all around. My sleep improved even better without caffeine AND alcohol.

By being constantly empathetic, you are not helping your partner and therefore not helping yourself. Agreed, constant empathy does not help. It spoils the kid, wife, etc. However, I think being empathetic when needed helps build a healthy connection. But backing off and letting them self-soothe is also important because it teaches emotional independence. Finding that balance is the hard part. Recognizing when to console and when to back off.

Backpacked 4 miles up a mountain with my wife and our 6 yr old boy. On the hike to our spot, a storm rolled in and fucking soaked us all and got all our shit wet. We set up a tent in the freezing rain in the dark. Shivered all night to avoid hypothermia. Got up in the morning and started a fire in the rain. Dried out the clothes by the fire. Chopped wood with my son. Ate dehydrated meals and survived. We all came back with a sense of calm and appreciation for life.
