In Ontario, 16 is the age of consent, flat out for anyone. 14 is ok up to I think 18, and there are allowances for people who are together when 14 and 18, to cover the year that it would be illegal (again I'm not 100% on how that works). If the student is 16 it's not statutory rape, but there is the aspect that the teacher is in a position of power, which makes the relationship presumably coercive.

The elderly often have a harder time keeping their balance than younger people. They would also have to be standing on a moving vehicle. Also, a fall can more often result in much more serious injuries to an elderly person like broken hips and such. These are falls that younger people would likely not be hurt at all.

I'll always get up for the elderly. Man or woman it doesn't matter. They get to a point where their balance isn't quite as good and we are on a moving vehicle. Actually, Judge Judy never passes sentencing, it's not even a court. She can decide if a lawsuit is allowed or dismissed. LEgally binding arbitration, not court.

You need to understand that these shows are not real courtrooms. They are small claims cases that are looked at and both parties agree to take them to televised legally binding arbitration. It's set up to look like a courtroom, but it is not. The Judge is normally not actually a judge (though a lot of them have been judges in the past and are retired, like Judge Judy).

Even Judge Judy doesn't act formally as a judge in her show, she is a retired judge, and her show is legally binding arbitration.
