I'll admit that I'm relatively new here, but looking through past posts, every time I've seen a clearly woman-hating comment, it's been ruthlessly downvoted and the person gets shunned enough to leave the community. I don't agree with everything that goes on around here, but one of my biggest reason for supporting this community is how level-headed and rational the majority is.

I think epidemic could potentially be a misnomer (I don't know...there's no way to know the exact numbers) that people use to emphasize how huge of a problem it is. And it is a huge problem. False rape accusations can potentially ruin lives. Now it might not be extremely widespread, but it is still a huge problem because of the potential repercussions to the victim.

Furthermore, I feel it is irrelevant. Regardless of whether 1% or 99% of rape claims are false, we must actively fight against both false rape claims, and rape. True, but apparently people believe that it isn't a problem unless it happens a lot. Now, if that detective above is credible, it does happen pretty often.
