They probably would, in fact a whole industrial sector could do this as well. Seems a bit chicken and the egg - do women choose to go into low-paying fields, or does women choosing to go into a field lead to the field paying less? It's likely not just one or the other.

Men are less likely to see doctors about health issues in general, that's why there's all those outreach ads telling men they should get their prostate checked regularly once over a certain age. How so? If the stats are 4/100 CEOs are female then that's an impartial piece of data. I would think such numbers would actually suggest it is harder to become a female CEO, just as it is harder for males to become a secretary/nurse/day care worker.

Definitely get the argument that sex appeal = power for women, though duke seems much more geared towards making the player step into the shoes of a badass in an action movie than it is to what women want. Muscles, cigars, huge guns, one liners like "I'm here to kick ass and chew bubblegum" etc...

Yeah, but a guy dressing as an eagle isn't any more degraded than a girl dressing as an eagle, and it certainly isn't as degrading as a guy wearing heels and a dress. Dressing as an eagle doesn't make a guy "not a man", an is outside the scope of womanly or manly.

It can be both, actually. They also seem to be taking a general population of adolescents, rather than ones studying math/science etc... It stands to reason that a child enrolled in a math/science course would have a higher skill for mathematical and scientific reasoning, and there are a lot more boys than girls in those fields during high school.

There is the argument that in the past (think the 50's) money and status followed the industries that men went into, because men were assumed to be the provider for the household and thus needed more money to support their family. If that's true then men going into child care would lead to a raise in the status and money of the industry, rather than the other way around.

I expect everyone to be treated better. You say that people shouldn't be expected to be treated differently based on their personal qualities, but that is exactly what your "abuse wrapped up in a different package" is, treating people differently based on their personal qualities. MRM already recognize that women are negatively affected by sexism Indeed, but as you can see from the other reply to my comment not all do. Likewise, some feminists do recognize sexism affects men. I agree that it's a bigger issue in that sexism against men isn't as institutionally recognised. Likewise there's a difference between calling for women to be treated equally and not discriminating against them, and ranting about how everything is rape culture and patriarchy etc... There's bad eggs in each movement. Feminism has been around longer, so the bad eggs have had longer to stew. But ultimately both movements are going to clash with each other and be less productive if we don't recognise that sexism affects all genders negatively.

I care. It's a societal issue, not my personal one. Kids are and will continue to be influenced by gender roles. Feminine boys, gay boys and trans girls will continue to suppress themselves and be subject to bullying and attempts to fix their behaviour, from adults and peers. Men will continue to be constricted in the avenues they can take in life, and have to constantly prove their masculinity.
