What I have found is what it all boils down to is confidence, you need to be comfortable in your own skin and feel good about yourself before you can start opening up to others in a joking way. Humor is tough because there is no universal “joke language “ that you can use. You just have to try and see if stuff lands, eventually you will either become numb or actually develop your own style of humor, in either case you win.
