This is exactly right. I don’t start getting ready unless a man confirms the date at least several hours/day before and don’t leave until he texts saying he’s on his way. Otherwise, I’ll show up late or tell him I assumed it wasn’t happening. Its better to assume they “forgot” or “weren’t interested” because you didn’t hear from them. Usually, if a man is truly interested he will reschedule and shape up the next time. This is how you show you value your time.

I’d most definitely block and delete this fool. He’s not worth your time, and you aren’t in control of the situation even if you only text him “when you feel like it”. If you keep connecting with him, you’re letting him win and you are still showing your interested.

If he asks you what you want to do, you don’t respond and he’ll think of something if he wants to keep it going. There’s no reason to entertain these questions. Negative punishment is a form of reinforcement and taking away your communication will produce the reward you are looking for.

I was going to come here and say this. The “counselors” on the show are motivated to keep the couples together, so the show is seen as a success. In real life, therapists don’t have any stakes in the marriage and are less likely to impose their bias on couples.

Be mindful of the guys around you that behave in a similar way you do. Maybe RAs in other halls or in student organizations and classes. Meeting guys with similar interests is easy in college. But going out and partying isn’t the best way to go about it. I do agree with others that dating really shouldn’t be your top priority as it can easily cloud your success academically.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
