To be clear - when I say "don't say it" I'm not saying you're gonna get arrested by the government for it, which is the only thing that freedom of speech actually protects against. You can of course say anything you want, but everyone else has the right to respond however they want as well. In other words, you're not free from the social consequences of what you say. If you say something "offensive" knowing full well it won't be received well, then don't bother complaining about the response you…

Honestly, it can even be as simple as "it's just fun". Dressing scantily can be really fun because it feels so free and daring - it's a big departure from your day-to-day look. There's not typically some big agenda behind it haha In the case of a sexy cosplay, implicit consent has been given to look. But that's it. Taking that and pushing into making lewd comments (specifically remarks that you would only say to a scantily clad woman but you wouldn't feel appropriate saying to any other cosplaye…

That's a very black-and-white view. It is not most attractive vs not attractive. It is a spectrum of levels of physical attractiveness plus who they are as a person and overall compatibility. Which overall results in a very personal "attractive to you" assessment. For example - I think my partner is handsome but not the most handsome man I've ever seen in my whole life. Just as I'm sure he wouldn't say I'm THE #1 most beautiful woman he's ever seen in his life. But I love who he is as a person a…

I mean...if it changes some people's minds about the need to say something at least marginally better than hi, that's pretty much the goal here right? It doesn't need to be the height of wit or take significant time to muster, but at least give us something to build a conversation off of. The biggest issue with "hi" is like...what the fuck do I even say to that lol. "Hi" in return? It's exhausting to try to decide what to do with "hi" a million times. I would imagine you would come up with somet…

I think a distinction needs to be made here between swiping and messaging. Swiping, sure looks matter. That's all swiping is about after all. But messaging? Imagine the inbox - the little icons with people's photos are like...maybe half an inch tall. The photos are tiny therefore quite indistinct and at a glance you don't necessarily remember that dudes photo from all the other photos you've seen, and all he's said is "hi" whereas the dude below him said something relatable about an interest I l…

BTW I think you mean a complete 180. A 360 means coming full circle so you are the same as where you first started. 180 is opposite of where you started.

I mean...I don't really think "I've decided I want X at my wedding" is necessarily synonymous with having the wedding planned since childhood or anything like that. You don't have to self-sacrifice what you want out of the event that you’re paying for just to prove that you value the marriage itself more than the wedding. You can absolutely value the marriage over everything else but still want the wedding to go the way you want it to go. Although as a caveat by "you" I mean BOTH the bride and g…

The latter, definitely. I'm not saying there are no criticisms to be made, but that the critiques often focus on things that aren't relatable as common experience or are too rooted in an attempt to maintain traditional gender roles for no real reason. It's my belief that if a well-reasoned critique were written that both appeals to the common experience and has solid logic behind it then it would get a lot more attention. So far I haven't seen much that isn't either niche or reeks of "I prefer t…

This is going to sound a little harsh, but honestly I've seen plenty of articles making the same complaints as you about women. They never reach mainstream media because the general opinion, of men and women alike, is that you're full of shit. It's not everybody else's fault that it doesn't seem like your complaints are rooted in reality. I'm not saying your complaints aren't coming from a real place, real to you in your personal lived experience or your discussions with similarly-minded individ…

Everybody in the world would call a man that limits his wife's spending a controlling, abusive asshole. If it's her money, yes. If she worked a full-time job and earned that money and she has appropriately contributed to joint household expenses (as per joint agreement) then it's her money to do whatever she wants with, and it's financial abuse to take that away. If she is spending her money in a way that means she can't meet her responsibilities in regards to the joint household expenses, then …

Stop acting like it's either all or nothing. You're saying if she can't handle acting as your personal live-in therapist then she doesn't want to hear it AT ALL - that's patently ridiculous. Women want men to be emotionally open, but understand that there is a certain amount of emotional labor that goes into listening and helping with these kinds of things and there is a limit to how much emotional labor you should expect your partner to shoulder. This is true for both men and women. If the ta…

I'm not doubting that there are women that enjoy caretaking as a way of showing affection, hell I do that myself. Just stating that when it stops being "doing things for someone to show I care" and starts being "he seems to be incapable of doing it himself and I feel like I'm his mother" - that's when it becomes a breeding ground for resentment. I guess the underlying premise is like...1. I do things to show I care but I'm choosing to do these things, I'm not your maid/mother and I expect to not…

Consistently, the nerd guys who have good jobs, take care of their responsibilities, have their own place and own car, etc are always the guys that have girlfriends. I don't know that I would trust any polls put up on TwoX... It's a default sub and one of the biggest issues it's run into is a huge amount of trolling from being a female-centered default sub. You never really know who's participating there so you can't really attribute things to the "views of feminists"

The best guess is plastic. Phthalates can be absorbed through the skin and even low levels exposed while pregnant to mice have lifelong impacts on hormone levels of the offspring!! An important caveat to this, and a big reason why phthalates remain a controversial subject - after the mouse study a primate study was conducted and phthalates had no effect on the developing reproductive system. If it has no effect in primates at a dose massively exceeding a typical exposure level it's a good indica…

I felt she gave me some mixed signals as I was never friends with her and neither did she say she wanted to be my Friend. Man, here's the crux of your problem. You absolutely were friends. Even if you end up dating later, you should be friends because why would you date someone you don't like to hang out with. Friends and romantically involved are not separate concepts, romantic involvement is like a layer on top of friendship. So that being said, to her you were obviously friends and she didn't…

Partially agree, but I think a caveat to be added is that intention is very important here. It's a very different thing to actively intend to deceive someone vs. a natural process of circumstances changing. Using your example - did that particular woman go into the relationship intending to deceive about frequency of sex, or is the drop off in libido due to something else (birth control side effects, depression, whatever it may be). Or with the other situation, did he always intend to deceive he…

You're not only ham-fistedly generalizing "all women" but also generalizing "all rap". Some of the most popular rap right now is very socially conscious - Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino, etc. I mean seriously, Kendrick Lamar just won the Pulitzer for his most recent album which was the #2 most popular album in 2017. And out of the other artists that maybe aren't creating any sort of social critique, how many of them actually have misogynistic messages in their songs? It exists, sure, but I thi…

I remember one of these threads and I was a participant who mentioned marriage providing protection, thus I feel I need to clarify what I personally meant by "protection". I didn't even remotely mean the husband provides protection, my intention was to say that the legal institution of marriage provides legal protection - primarily from potential ramifications of the relationship going bad after one person gives up their career in favor of the other person. And really this is true either way, wh…

In my opinion that situation is the exception not the rule, because why would people talk about all the divorces that end in an equitable split - there's no outrage to be had so it's not interesting to talk about, and gives a false impression that unfair splits happen much more often than they do. But I understand that you probably see it differently.

100% no I wouldn't be willing to take on that amount of risk without protecting myself somehow. In that situation if he decides he didn't want to be together anymore, I'm left with nothing Conversely, I don't need marriage if I am protected in other ways. I would like to get married someday, but I'm not too concerned about it and it's not a deal breaker. I don't understand why you think it's so egregious for a woman to choose to protect herself. It's like you think only men have the right to make choices in order to protect themselves, such as deciding to not marry or insisting on a prenup. Marriage offers legal protection to the person who is potentially risking their financial future for the relationship, such as a stay at home parent. Plain and simple.

When you use the term "expect things" are you specifically meaning like expecting too much, in an entitled way? Or expecting in general, including expecting really normal things? (Like common human courtesy type things) I'm just curious because from what you've described, using the example of a woman expecting you to take her car to the shop for her, I don't know anyone like that. I think men give way more I think you're definitely biased there. You see the type of contribution that men give and value it very highly, and you either don't even see the contribution of women or you tend to value it lowly. It's like if you ask a husband and wife separately who does more work around the house - husband says of course he does, wife says of course she does...who's right?

I believe there is probably the occasional woman who is overly naggy, but for the most part I'm positive that the "nagging wife" trope is exactly that - a wife that can't get her husband to do jack shit. I read a comment once from a woman who said that that's what killed her marriage actually, she stopped feeling like a wife and started feeling like the mother to an adult child. Totally killed her attraction to him

There are objective risks that can be evaluated from a relationship, and they're potentially life ruining I'm a little late to this thread, but one quick thing i wanted to mention that i haven't really seen explicitly stated yet - if we're going to look at relationships as a cost-benefit analysis you need some sort of metric by which to measure risk so you can truly compare the magnitude of risk involved. For example - every time you leave the house you run the risk of getting hit by a car, but …

AFAIK Coke is a brand that actually has a good record of taking out ingredients (or making sure they're far below recommended exposure limits, because as you know the dose makes the poison) as soon as there's reasonable question regarding their safety, like 4-MEI. Allegedly Pepsi isn't as good about it though. Even then, it was determined by the FDA that you would have to drink over 1000 cans of soda per day to reach the level of 4-MEI that caused cancer in rats soooo....

That is kind of true*, but my problem with juices is that they still lose a lot of those nutrients compared to the fruits themselves (during the juicing process). Plus, you can absolutely get those nutrients in less sugar-heavy ways - like vegetables. *As a chemist, the ingredients in Coke are not shady, they're pretty normal

Fucking go eat some meat and stop chewing vegtables like a rabbit! To be fair, vegetables aren't so big of a problem (depending on what vegetables you choose of course), not compared to fruit. EVERYONE thinks fruit is so healthy, with all the fruit juice cleanses and fruit smoothies before workouts and shit...so much sugar. Like 12 oz. of store-bought OJ and a 12 oz can of Coke have almost the same amount of sugar, yet everyone gives Coke shit for being sugary while drinking their juices lol.

Yeah, I've gotten less strict about it but I've continued to maintain just general avoidance of carbs and sugar. So essentially you're saying all women blame shift except for when they don't, and men definitely take responsibility for themselves except for when they don't. What's the point of this post? If you have to speculate to find ways to individually justify every single instance that doesn't support your view, isn't that indicative that your premise may be invalid?

Honestly i don't really specifically fantasize about men in any scenario, whether with someone or just getting off solo. With someone, I'm very much focused on the sensations and how the experience in general is going/how i want it to go. And solo it's fantasy about what's being done to me/what I'm doing, not who's doing it. He doesn't talk about if women get cat called and oggled [ogled] when not wearing tight/revealing clothes. If you read his comments, he definitely does say that. He even justified getting catcalled if you're wearing a Victorian dress that covers you from chin to toes - apparently if the dress is black then it can still be sexualized even if it appears to be one of the most modest things you can possibly wear
/r/PurplePillDebate10/10/16 08:40 PM

Well even that is ignoring the point, I don't give a shit if a guy has lustful thoughts about what I'm wearing if he keeps it to himself. Being "stared at in an uncomfortable manner" is about some exhibition of behavior that is socially offputting. Usually if you don't get that it's a sign of a deficiency in your understanding/interpretation of social cues. Additionally, women generally neuropsychologically outperform men when it comes to interpreting facial expressions/emotions/social cues, so …

I live in an area where it's very common for women to wear yoga pants/leggings on a daily basis, and I've never seen a camel toe. I honestly don't believe I've seen a legging wedgie either, but a lot of women wear long cardigans over the leggings that cover the butt so I can't say for certain. These are a few clear cut cases, but most of the cases you've cited throughout the thread are not clear cut at all. They're things that you may not find sexual but many men will disagree with you. I like that idea too! Now that I think about it I remember the line where Max says something about not knowing who's crazier: him, or the people around him. It makes me think the movie felt like it was from Max's POV in the kind of bemused and manic impression it left. We left the theater not knowing any more about the people involved than Max himself did, which seems appropriate

I'm personally glad too because I think all the discussion and theorizing is really fun. I do this same thing with Game of Thrones - I love reading the fan theories where people use evidence from the books and the show to make predictions about questions that GRRM hasn't answered yet. Plus this movie was all about not needing to explicitly spell everything out. This may all be speculation, but the movie was made to encourage speculation based on subtle clues and knowledge of the mad max universe. Too much exposition would have seriously detracted from the manic energy of the movie Just fyi though, none of those women were Furiosa's mother - that one asked about her mom and Furiosa said she died within 3 days of them being captured together

The way I see it, the purpose of debate subs like this is to allow both sides to maintain the relative sanctity of their own subreddits without becoming totally isolated from hearing other people's opinions. Without a debate sub, opposing subs can devolve in one of two ways: 1. people from each side spend a lot of time on the other sub just shitting on everyone and it becomes a super hostile place, or 2. the mods of the subs end up deleting all opposing views and the sub just turns into a gigant…

I'm not saying I think all women are fairy princesses, I don't know where you got that from. I haven't heard about this situation so you would have to say what you think about that relationship, but I would imagine they would have trust, empathy, communication, etc. Especially trust I would think, it would be really diff…

Thank you, thank you so much, everything you just said is so true. More people need to hear this and let it sink in. In pretty much every case, if all the information you've gathered about a group of people is from the internet (for example, if you think real feminism is at all related to the internet radfems and SJWs), then I don't even know how you can possibly think you have a remotely clear picture of anything. You can't even really trust your Google searches, because you're in a filter bubb…

I think the most reasonable way to look at this is to stop trying to separate sex and power, they're too intertwined. Rape can be mostly about power, mostly about sex, or somewhere in the middle where it incorporates both to some degree - it's unrealistic to try to completely separate the two. Nothing is ever that black and white. Honestly, personally, I think a HUGE reason why we have such extreme ideological differences between groups (for example, TRP and BP) is because everyone is looking at…

So most of this is just fundamental differences between us as people, which isn't going to change - we would clearly never be friends, haha. But, one thing....whoa! I never said I want to control how you feel, nor that men aren't allowed to feel a full range of emotions. That's literally the exact opposite of what I believe and I'm not sure how you got that out of what I was saying. Unless you're just making baseless assumptions about me now

It just honestly makes me feel bad for you that this is the way you think the world works. I don't doubt that you've probably seen behavior in the people around you that reinforces this idea, but I think you and I are in very different environments because I've never seen anything that backs this up. In my environment, the nice guys do get the girls. This is why I have trouble with TRP philosophy, because of what I was talking about earlier where different things work for different people. Every…

What I find interesting about this explanation is the feeling of a victim complex. Although in my opinion that's a cultural issue in general, you can't go anywhere or do anything without someone being a victim, but that's an argument for another time. Society lies to everyone. That's just life, having to go out in the world and try to figure out for yourself how it all works. And if something doesn't work the way you thought, just adapt. Now you can argue that TRP is trying to help people do jus…

The one thing I feel compelled to address here is that you've provided data for a correlation between intelligence and sexual experience, but nothing correlating intelligence and personality. You've just assumed that intelligent guys are also nice people. I'm not saying there isn't a correlation, just that you didn't provide strong enough evidence for it, as well as clear evidence for a causal relationship (because as we all know, correlation does not imply causation). Just as an aside: Especial…

I mean...she has a point about you being shockingly hostile when all she was doing was expressing her own opinion, and pretty politely at that. If you post on reddit and can't handle dissenting viewpoints, you're going to have a bad time.

Well yes, you can react them together, but they're still different sugars. You can also break them back apart via hydrolysis so by that definition you could reverse it and say fructose is a derivative of sucrose. Once you react it is is a different molecule though. You're not consuming fructose when you consume sucrose, because as soon as fructose undergoes chemical reaction it essentially doesn't exist anymore. It has different properties now. I didn't mean you can't get one from the other and …

I'm the most alpha female here. My clit is the biggest one of all! hahahahaha alpha AF I kinda figured that's how it really is. Basically starts as a blank slate in fetal form and whatever chromosome combination forms is just what happens. Well, the chromosomes are already set, it's just the hormones, but otherwise yes.

This is exactly what got to me too. If the only difference between hamstering and backpedaling is the actual internal thought process of the person ("justifying it" or not), you'll never know which one someone is doing because you don't know what they're thinking. I suppose that's pretty classic RP though, assuming they know exactly what women are thinking.

Just an FYI, this isn't really that important but it's a "the more you know" moment: fructose doesn't include sucrose - they're two different sugars. Like...sucrose isn't a derivative of fructose, they're both derivatives of sugars as a whole.

They're just divergent forms of the same tissue so you could say it the other way around too: a dick is a giant clit. Both statements are true in the sense that both organs are formed out of the same tissue in utero. Still not actually true because they go straight from non-specific gonads to sex-specific ones with the production of hormones, so a dick was never actually a clit and a clit was never actually a dick. The in-betweens (micropenis, large clit) are just caused by hormone irregularitie…

I know I'm kind of late to this thread, but someone else whose post I read super recently (wish I could remember where) had a very accurate phrase to describe TRP: "A pinch of truth wrapped in a pound of poison"

I don't see how that's relevant here, that seems like a completely separate topic. There's a big difference between a joke falling flat and coming off as a creepy weirdo, and people who come off as total creep weirdos usually aren't actually trying to be funny at the time.

I think radical feminists probably do exist in academia, but I don't think it's common. I'm in university right now and have taken a couple classes that had to do with feminism, and they were very reasonable, well-rounded classes that focused on both women's issues and men's issues. Feminism is actually separated into "waves" where each wave was working toward different goals, and we're currently in the 3rd wave which is much more focused on equality for everyone and the freedom for people to be…
