My husband would disagree wholeheartedly with that response and would likely say the equivalent is also buying flowers or another thoughtful gesture. I buy my husband flowers all the time actually, and he appreciates it.

So first of all this is a pretty extreme generalization of both men and women. Sure , standards absolutely matter and women shouldn’t lower their standards out of fear of being alone, and choosing a husband should be about character, leadership, emotional maturity, values, and compatibility, not surface-level traits like age. But the declaration that "women always date older men" or that younger men are automatically a better option isn’t really supported by reality. The reality is that marriage…

Yeah I'm with you. From 18 to 21 I grew 3 inches, 2 cup sizes, and lost all my baby fat. I still very much looked like a child at 18, where that was very much not the case at 25.

I really relate to this from when I was around your same age. In my early 20s i suddenly felt this huge urge to settle down. I was worried about being inexperienced and I was sick of the kinds of guys I felt I was attracting. Looking back on it now a couple of things were happening. For one, that sudden urge to settle down usually hits women before it hits men your age. Unfortunately a lot of guys in their early 20s are also figuring themselves out. It can make you feel like emotionally unavaila…

First of all, congrats! You’re doing so much more than you’re giving yourself credit for imho. You’re in OCIA, you’re healing, you’re improving your health, you’re examining your lifestyle choices, and you’re becoming more intentional about the kind of woman you want to be. The fear part is normal. It means you're ready to be intentional in your pursuit. I don’t know what I’m looking for in a man. As a Catholic woman, consider what the Church teaches us about what a husband should be. A man who …

To answer your hypothetical question, anyone could do anything but I believe a good, Christian man would not leave his faithful wife over this. If anything, he takes this as an opportunity to lead with grace and by example, showing his wife the beauty of God's unconditional love. Do you pray? I don't mean with a group and only when you attend church on Sundays, I mean like in your daily life. Prayer is an incredibly powerful way to grow closer to God in a tangible way. I can feel from your words…

Am I understanding correctly that you're still working? Because there's nothing traditional about pulling double duty while he selectively contributes. Sounds like performative authority without the responsibility. He feels loved when we each stick to our roles and don’t ask for help, while I feel loved when we work together as a team. Unfortunately, right now you guys are doing neither. Practically, I think you have to decide if you are willing to put up with running a household with a man who …

Solid advice here, and I’d add that the practical framework isn’t all that different from how you’d approach dating someone with a history of drug or alcohol addiction. Porn addiction is still addiction, and goes hand in hand with negative patterns and traits like secrecy and hedonism. That’s why boundaries are so important. Just like you wouldn’t marry an alcoholic with the hope they’ll “grow out of it" you shouldn’t ignore your own standards here either. If someone is in active addiction, the …

I get it. Even in the west, where mobility and merging across class lines is less stigmatized, assortative mating absolutely exists and for good reason. Your father understands that across the history of marriage people understood that safety was critical, and respect and "love" could be grown over time. He's not wrong, but for a multitude of reasons we now have much more of a say in our partners, so I think it's about striking a balance.

Your care in vetting speaks volumes about your maturity and readiness for marriage, I love that for you. In my opinion, marrying a man you respect is more important than marrying one who simply has more money. In fact, marrying "up" in finances but "down" in values, stability, or character is a far greater risk than the reverse. Respect, consistency, long-term thinking, and emotional steadiness matter more for peace and partnership than the flashiest wedding or the fanciest vacations. That said,…

I think a lot of people misunderstand the view of "hitting the wall." It's not saying women have no value after 30 — that’s a shallow, black-and-white take that insecure men push. You seem to be here over concerns about the opinions of, in your own words, "delusional men." I would advise you to shift your focus. High-value men aren't obsessing over a woman’s age. They’re looking for peace, loyalty, femininity, and a partner to build with. The way I see it, "hitting that wall" for women is about …

I responded to your last post from a Catholic perspective and I'm going to do it again. You said you are Catholic and I just assumed last time but I fear I need to ask now, is your fiancé Catholic? You said you did marriage prep, but didn't specify Pre-Cana. And I'm asking now because I cannot imagine that a faithful Catholic would reject the sacrament—and the graces that come with it—over a perceived fear of you becoming less submissive. To deny the legal and sacramental union is to deny the fu…

Married Catholic with a prenup here to lovingly encourage you to look at it through the lens of your faith first, and then also from a place of feminine wisdom and self-protection. As a Catholic you should already know that marrying in the Church isn’t just a formality. It’s a sacrament, a covenant before God. The graces that come with a sacramental marriage are profound, and they carry you through the hard seasons. Skipping that in favor of only a private or spiritual commitment cuts you off fr…

I've said it before on this sub, but a "redpill" man is not necessarily a high value one. In my opinion, you're better off focusing on a man's qualities and his actions and avoiding anyone who is so wrapped up in an online ideology that they've made it their personality. Most of these "redpill" content creators are grifters preying on insecure young men. Nothing about that is attractive.

In this kind of a situation my mother would say "you'll never regret taking the high road." I'm also partial to the idea that living well is the best revenge. A man his age who hasn't settled down isn't nearly the catch he undoubtedly thinks he is. You're still young, leave this loser and find someone who respects you. Live that good life.

Oh absolutely you're right about nursing as a career in general. In my particular example I'm thinking of women I know who mostly work at aesthetic and derma clinics and don't actually need to work. You do see doctors marry school teachers but what you may not realize is a lot of those teachers come from money too. I know lots of women who went out and got "average" jobs that don't pay much (teacher, nurse, personal trainer and life coach seem to be the most popular) and married wealthy husbands because they came from wealthy families and already ran in those circles where they had a lot of commonalities already. A good read, I enjoyed it when it was originally posted to Vindicta. I've posted there a fair amount about my experience growing up wealthy this post generally rings true. One thing I see those manosphere bot accounts on X get dead wrong is this idea that women only need to care about their appearance and that men don't care about the rest. You'll see the sentiment expressed in some form of "he doesn't care about your job or your education, you just have to be young and hot" which, for wealthy a…

It sounds like you've turned intimacy into another chore, another thing for him to have to manage or else face your disappointed nagging. This is not dissimilar to a wife who laments that she is uninterested in sex because her husband is not pulling his weight and she is exhausted. He is tired, and he's telling you as much with the comments about disrespect and the actions of wanting to be left alone to recharge. The good news is that you recognize this and want to change. So, are you willing to…

Do you want to leave? You could, you'd technically be justified, but you stayed last time so... do you want to? Look, only you can decide what you're willing to accept, but if you decide to stay you're going to need to set some clear expectations around boundaries and respect. If you choose to leave you'll need to be prepared to be cut off from your current support system. I know it's not an easy decision but ultimately it is your call to make. I am very sorry you're going through this.

A good question for you both is why do you care about the high body count? You should, but for the right reasons. As others have pointed out, promiscuity goes hand-in-hand with other undesirable qualities (low self-esteem, insecurity, etc.) and so that's really what you should be working on. Coming to an understanding of the destructive reasons behind promiscuity and the benefits of chastity may be a better way to approach this. Finally, I'd caution that a "redpill man" does not equal a high val…

Very interesting, thanks for the summary. Like many others yes, this rings true for my husband who was also in his late 20s and had just landed his dream job when he proposed. This also validated some thoughts I had recently on why large age-gap relationships are best avoided.

Because we know they wouldn't be so "willing" had someone pointed out the red flags. We are trying to warn other women about predators/insecure types, of which there's considerable overlap with older men who pursue significantly younger women. I am glad the exercise of writing this out was therapeutic for you. I think your husband is right, I think you get anxious irrationally. I would imagine that my A list is similar to most others here, which would be things that are objectively feminine: I keep my hair long, wear stylish feminine clothes, am well groomed and just generally care about my appearance. The B list is more interesting imo and for me I would definitely put on that list: my ability to carry a conversation well and with anyone, having valuable and demonstrable hobbies/talents, and of course going back to the femininity aspect, my deep desire to do tradition…

Good post. I think it's so important for people to realize porn addiction is not different from other addictions, and just like dealing with any addict you need to set boundaries not ultimatums. Boundaries are about your actions whereas ultimatums are about theirs and since you can only control one of those, ultimatums rarely work out. I also 100% agree with /u/VulgarDisrespect that this should absolutely be part of the vetting process. Just like with any addictive behavior, this is best weeded …

Nothing wrong with a career, imho. I am (was) in the same boat. Very lucrative career, high earner, workaholic. It was one of the top things that drew my husband to me, and he is the traditional, provider type. I relate to this sm because I'm the same way. My biggest con with this was while I was single because it seemed to be the cause of men getting very into me very quickly. Just as you were saying, any date I'd go on would seem to "go well" even if the guy was a wet rag because I'm good at carrying conversation but then when I'd break it off they'd end up confused thinking that I was really into it when, sorry no I can just get along with anyone lol.

I would never put myself in a state of mortal sin for the sake of "submission" and you should also not look at these as "choices" that you have to make. I think you two need a come-to-Jesus meeting (pun intended) to discuss this. I recommend opening it up prayerfully and gently. This is my answer too. It stuck out to me that OP is having to "explain" this to men on dates. I think it's pretty easy to tell when a man has these qualities or not and you can ask the right questions early on to sus this out. I agree with you about the subjects around goals and future motherhood. I would not expend energy on someone you would need to explain this concept to. I have to ask, why do you want to change this? Imo nothing about speaking clearly and with confidence is antithetical to being feminine, that's just speaking. I hate to go that route because I firmly believe that if you have the personality for it you can have a great conversation with anyone, but honestly it did jump out at me how difficult this seems to be for both of them. I was going to say something similar. My husband has a very high stress job and it's immediately obvious when he's going through it more than usual because he detaches like this. It's a stress coping mechanism. What we've found works is making sure that we both have time to engage in hobbies that are more fulfilling than the mindless time sucks of social media or TV. When my husband is working at home I like to start the day by making him his espresso the way he likes and discuss his schedule so I can coordinate when meals will be served and when he will want snacks and more coffee throughout the day. So when I first opened this reply I had a "ain't nobody got time for that" moment and closed it and moved on, but now I'm sitting in a waiting room bored and my optometrist is always running behind so I have plenty of time to read it now. I'm glad I did, because I'm mad impressed and honestly flattered that you took the time to read my entire five year post history. I mean seriously, if I had that kind of time to burn I could go back to grad school. Anyway, you're completely right about the insa…

Well sure but at the end of the day I don't understand why someone else's in/ability to change their appearance has anything to do with other people's preferences. I'm not attracted to short people or people of certain races, none of which can be controlled. I fail to see the issue tbh.

I stumbled on this post from elsewhere so I apologize in advance if this seems naive but I actually think posting what you're saying in a dating app bio would be fine. It would only upset people you're not trying to attract in the first place so who cares. At the same time, I'm confused then why so many here readily admit they aren't attracted to fat people but are ragingly upset at others not being attracted to short people. I have a height requirement in my dating profile and get tons of hate …

It's a fantasy. Those of us who have been teenagers remember how repulsed we were by older men. They just ignore it. I have older family friends who have asked me out and then been shocked when I turn them down because "you always seemed like you liked me" which is them misconstruing me being nice for wanting to date them. Old men are weird like that.

If that well known tech company is any of the FAANG companies and he was only bringing home 6.5k then he's probably a garbage software engineer anyway. Nothing of value was lost.

This isn't the exact point of the post but goes along with what you're saying: don't ever willingly incur a man's debt. Usually this is through marriage (aka don't marry a man with more debt than you) but even in a unmarried relationship. I have a friend who is paying off her boyfriend's credit cards rn and I keep trying to explain to her why this is so stupid. It is not worth it. Ideally, avoid men with excessive debt in the first place, and never ever allow yourself to go into debt for anyone …

Seriously those subs are ridic. Often when a guy posts I'll open it and think, easily 2, but all the comments are telling these well below average dudes they're 9s, the delusion is so real.

Lmfao I just saw this on insta and immediately thought of this sub 🤣

This whole site is pretty skewed against women and supportive of toxic men. I had been noticing this trend and just today I had commented about how it feels like every time I get hit on at airports the person is married. The comment got some significant attention so I took a screenshot at around 400 upvotes then edited it and changed only one word: "person" to "guy" just to see what would happen. Unsurprisingly that comment has been getting steadily downvoted since. It's like they don't even try…

And the there's the "unpopular" opinion sub that's falling over themselves to defend it. Shocking.

Ha nice. I've met men who smugly like to tell me they'd for sure have a prenup if/when they got married, then get highly offended when I would require the same.

Absolutely love this! Nothing cuter than a man who is proud of his family.

Funny when the ones with the "highest" expectations can't even come up with a single thing to offer in return.

Y'all would be surprised (read: not at all) at the attitude so-called "progressive" men in "tech" have regarding their expectations of their wives/girlfriends, but it's super interesting if you get into the industry how many of these men are in IT vs actual tech professionals with advancement opportunities ans real influence. It's actually a common joke on the Blind app, (anonymous app for tech professionals particularly those in FAANG) that those who make entitled comments about getting laid/da…

I used to post in that sub a lot before I found this one. I never got any good advice from my posts and got more obnoxious DMs than anything. According to them, dating is easy for women. Thanks for the advice fellas, super helpful 🙄

For some reason this reminds me of a story. I was walking home from getting coffee, cutting through the park and I see this group of boys (they were adults but you know the kind) doing something similar to what you're talking about. I see the leader of this group notice me and do that nudging thing to all his friends so I KNOW he's about to approach me (this isn't my first rodeo in this same park). He walks up with all the usual catcalls, asking where I'm headed, can he buy me a drink? I'm usual…

Yes thank you! I am glad I'm not alone here. Like I work out for a reason, I expect the same. What is it about men over 30 and "dad bod" being acceptable even (especially!) if you don't have kids!!!

So I'm new to this sub, just started lurking, but wow this resonated with me. Just this morning I received a message on meetup from some guy asking what I'm looking for in a man. From his profile he is a divorced, overweight, OLD man. So I responded honestly that I'm looking for someone my age (in their 20s), who share my religious beliefs, and are athletic like me. He replied asking if 45 was ok 🙄 as if he met the other criteria I mentioned. I asked why he would think someone in their 20s would…
