I’m pretty well read on WW2. I’m not going to get into a pissing match with some guy on a throw away account but honestly you haven’t even really addressed my point. The UK had a choice. Nazis were coming. They could wait for them to invade or bring the fight to them. To me that’s an easy decision. Im not sure what you disagree with. Yes WW2 was atrocious all the way around. i really don’t understand what you’re saying. The UK and France did not start WW2. I can’t speak for France but I know most of the UK did not want war because they thought “just give hitler what he wants and he’ll stop”. Churchill knew better. Hitler would not stop. He would continue across the English Channel and take over England. So the men went to fight for their nation. Not for nothing.

Starting a war when there was currently no conflict would absolutely be stupid. But Churchill knew that war was imminent. Waiting for them to be on your doorstep would have been stupid. It was just a matter of convincing people that was was imminent. After that the choice was clear and, in hindsight, correct.
